You can pick up Acronis 10 for £15 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/119641

Having had a lappy disk trash itself in an instant, I used Acronis to rebuilt a new disk in 90 minutes. £15 is well worth it...

IMHO, the value of Acronis is it backs up the lot, Windows, your installed apps, all your configurations, etc. It's really for total disaster backup; for documents that change or I might delete by mistake, I send these to online backup like Mozy.

For Acronis, backup to a USB hard disk, they are cheap as chips now.

You backup and restore is by booting Acronis off its CD-ROM; without Windows running you'll have a far better chance of getting a clean full disk backup and incrementals.

I don't want to back up my own files or windows itself, just important drivers and updates that is all and i was hoping to put them on a dvd? I just want to know if this is possible? ta

upto now i have only used it to back up my whole system, but i would think there is an option that lets you just back up parts of your hard drive that you would want to, would be pretty stupid if there was not that option if you ask me, somebody would probably give you a better answer, but i am 99.9% certain you can use it to back up only what you want to, and yes you can back up to dvd with acronis, hth dave.
