I understand that all those illnesses could cause you to lose weight but they would do so by reducing your appetite, I would have thought? So I don't think we can include those as reasons for a TRUE answer.

However I do reckon the accurate answer is "TRUE (you can lose weight by eating the same size meals but using lower calorific foodstuffs)". But they probably want the answer FALSE.

    :)

Actually, particularly in diabetes but also in hyperthyroidism, cancer and other infections as mentioned above, weight loss commonly occurs despite a good appetite. This is also true for Malabsorption disorders.

I didn't mention depression or old age because quite often, reduced appetite is the main cause of weight loss (although, it would be good to mention at this stage that very often, people with depression tend to 'comfort-eat', thus gaining weight).

    Hope this helps.

Anyway, good luck to all, whatever you decide to put as the answer for number 10 :p

    1 - ?TRUE
2 - TRUE (apart from giving up smoking)
    3 - FALSE
    4 - FALSE
    5 - TRUE
    6 - ?FALSE
    7 - TRUE
    8 - TRUE
    9 - FALSE
10 - TRUE (by eating same amount but reducing calorie intake, or through some illnesses)

So just 1 & 6 we're not certain on. Can anyone confirm?

Q6 I will go with FALSE unless anyone objects? It depends what they mean by "a good source". Raw calf liver (yum - not!) is the best meat for vitC with 36 mg/100g, which is better than spinach and raw cabbage (30 each) but nowhere near as much as Orange (50), Kiwifruit (90), Blackcurrant (200) and Kakadu plum (3100).
Many tx to all who post constructively in all the forums!

Sorry can't confirm 100% but I would personally go with the answers you've already given for 1 & 6.
