Hi
I feel silly, as I know what I want, but I'm not sure how to explain
So, I'm looking for a budget priced OUTDOOR security camera that doesn't record to an SD card (as I have no way of viewing from a card) - I can only view on my android phone.
Can anyone help please? I have around £60 to spend. Not much I know
Thanks in advance.
Tara.

If it helps you can get a usb sd card reader that you pop into a spare usb slot on your pc unless of course you don't have a pc.0

Check amazon for the YI Outdoor IP Camera Wireless 1080P HD Home Security Camera, they are often on offer, add an sd card and you can access / download the footage from your phone without having to access the sd card directly.
Do you want to capture movement on the camera ? Check on the dog in the garden, will the area be lit at night ? Where wil the camera be situated / what area covered ?
More info on your requirements please0 -

Hi.
Yes I want to capture movement (a neighbour broke into my garden last week and I feel unsafe)
There are bright sensor lights that come on, so the garden is then well lit from all angles.
The area that needs to be 'watched' is 20ft x 20ft max.
The camera will be mounted outside, and close to my bedroom window so that my mobile phone is close to it.
I hope this helps
Thanks. All you need is love (and chocolate)0 -
a couple of problems: you will get false positives. many of the cameras that do not record to a pc record to the cloud (aka someone elses computer) and need a subscription service every year - £. Without a subscription for you the camera is of no use as they do not directly transmit to your phone, plus they often only store a certain amount of video and for a fixed length of time, but you may get more and longer for ££.
Initially do not bolt the camera to a wall, but play with it for a few days to realise its capabilities, including if the person wears a hoodie or cap then you may find it hard to record their face. Also cats wander a lot, and low down winter sun shining into the lens may need a cowl. lights from houses and vehicles are a pita0 -

So far I've found the Arlo Go, so the set up is possible. I just need to look into it more, and find similar.
Luckily my gates hide the patrolling cats, and the sun is only facing the back of the house for a few hours in the morning all year.
The guy I need to watch didn't bother covering up, he was as bold as brass and confronted me.All you need is love (and chocolate)0 -
If you have floodlights then an indoor Yi camera would probably work inside the house facing out of a window, they record 6 seconds of motion triggered video (and save that to the cloud without a subscription), you can also put an sd card inside and access any footage from your phone over wifi. The indoors Yi cameras are £20 / £ 30.
The Arlo Go cameras are expensive and may requires a battery to be recharged at regular intervals. If you don't get a battery powered one how are you going to power it?

We've got this system
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ANNKE-1-Channel-Recorder-Megapixels-Weatherproof/dp/B013ANIH5I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1538241991&sr=8-3&keywords=Annke+cctv
It's fantastic quality for the price and you can view it from your mobile via the annke vision app. For playback and continuous recording though you do have to add your own hard drive (very simple to install) we didn't have that expense as we had a spare already lying around. It only comes with two cameras but you can add a further two wired and one ip camera if you need to. We've added one additional so far and may invest in an ip doorbell camera to link up to it too.
We are incredibly impressed with the image quality, particularly the night vision, I've seen and set up systems worth hundreds that are not as good as the quality from this.0 -

.
Crikey! I'm not surprised you're thinking along those lines.
I'm wondering if there are other useful measures you could take besides security cameras?
What happened? How do you know it was the neighbour? Any idea why they would do that - or are they someone that isnt quite "with it" iyswim?0 -

Yes he's not quite with it, but in an aggressive thug way. I'm trying to not think about it to be honest, as it makes me feel really anxious. I'll feel much better knowing I have a camera. I spoke to the police and without evidence such as cctv video, nothing can be done - My word against theirs that it ever happened basically. All you need is love (and chocolate)0
