Letter received from Debt Recovery Plus

Hi,
i have received a letter from Debt recovery plus stating i have a final settlement offer of £144.00 to pay if i want to avoid court action. this is the first letter i have seen regarding this fine.

i have followed the instructions on the newbeeies thread but when i went to submit the template appeal for BPA or IPC members as my fine is apparently from Britannia Parking. the Britannia Parking Website did not recognize the parking charge number quoted on my letter. I have not received any other letter or parking fine from Britannia Parking themselves.

Am i right in my understanding that i can just ignore these letters? i was getting slightly confused reading through the newbeeies post. i dont want to ignore these letters then all of a sudden have a large fine to pay.

i would appreciate some help on this matter as i am starting to panic that i will have to end up paying a large fine.

We've seen Britannia's appeal page play up before, so send a complaint email to Steve Clark at the BPA, who is already aware of some issues before with the appeals page:

and he will investigate why you were unable to appeal using the PCN number Britannia gave you at the time, and he may well get Britannia to agree that an appeal can be submitted now, then POPLA after all.

It is not a fine, it is a scam, they want your money as they alleged you breached a contract to park. They have to prove it to a judge in a Count Court.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P.
for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the House of Commons recently

Hi guys, I continued to ignore the letters as advised and all went quiet but I have now received a letter from bw legal saying
"We have been instructed by Britannia parking limited in relation to the balance due for the above pcn." They state the balance of 160 includes a charge of 60 for their clients initial legal costswhihc is detailed in the car park signage. They say payment is required in 16 days otherwise they will seek their clients instructions to commence legal proceedings.
I Have 2 of these letters for 2 separate 'parking tickets' that came in the post at the same time. I'm now worried I will be taken to court and have to pay a sum of money that I really can't afford.
I appreciate any help on this.

It's the now famous "16 day BWLegal rubbish" again

YOU DO NOT OWE £160 ???? it's a fake charge added on by BWLegal, they are trying to extort money from you and the courts will not allow extortion

BWLEGAL ADD ON A FAKE £60 ?
In addition to the 'parking charge', the Claimant's legal representatives, BWLegal, have artificially inflated the value of the Claim by adding costs of £60 which has not actually been incurred by the Claimant, and which are artificially invented figures in an attempt to circumvent the Small Claims costs rules using double recovery. >>>> thanks to bargepole

So, the "16 day" letter is a debt collectors letter.

BY LAW they must send a LBC (letter before court) which must prove their case such as pictures signs and the amount claimed
THEY MUST GIVE YOU 30 DAYS TO REBUT/RESPOND

If you get a LBC come back here.
That will also show the fake £60

As BWLegal are attempting to extort money from you, you should be complaining to the SRA especially about " circumvent the Small Claims costs rules using double recovery."

So am I correct in thinking I do not respond to this letter or take any further action other than to make a complaint to the sra?
