Should I overpay for being calm?

Hey there.

I'm going to have fertility treatment (IVF) and need to get a second opinion re its cost. I have a choice between 3 fixed-priced packages and I can't decide which one to choose. The difference is in number of IVF attempts included and the cost, obviously. the cheapest one is around $6,000 and includes one transfer, 2 attempts are offered for $8,000 and 5 att for $11,600 and refund in case all 5 were negative. 1 is not enough I think but 5 may be to many. Maybe 2? But if I get pregnant from the first try, I lose $2,000. Or sould I pay more for a backup plan?

It's one big gamble this whole IVF thing. I had 2 rounds of IVF and 2 FET before we were successful. But everyone is different. It can work first time for so many too. We are thinking about trying again sometime but will only be paying for 1 round as it is just so expensive.

Hope it works out ok for you :-)

How long can you space these attempts over?

In an ideal world, if fertility was not an issue, would you like more than one child? ie if you got pregnant on attempt one, could attempts 2-4 take place in 3-4 years time if you wanted a second child? In which case the 'back up plan' has more potential options and is even more money saving

If you do get pregnant (good luck :D !!) then dont worry, you'll lose a heck of a lot more than $2k which will pale into insignificance over a lifetime of child costs, direct and indirect !
