Boiler needs replacing - Is it the previous engineers fault?

Would he come back and fix the leak as good will for you not to take it further.
Unless the case is Swiss cheese, can it not be repair in some way?
If it were goodwill, it would be because they're a nice person.
The OP cannot take it any further. They did not commission the person to service the boiler. The OP has no traction.
The condition of it is probably worth a second opinion before replacing.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks for all the replies.
Yes, I should have got a gas engineer look at it before I bought the property. Guess I'm more annoyed at myself for getting suckered into taking the service checks as the boiler is in good condition. The home buyers report is a waste of money and I'll never get that again...
The boiler is definitely gone, even if I had the leaks repaired the engineer suggested they would only come back. Water leaking onto electrics is the last thing I want in my home.
Anyone recommend a good boiler? An Ideal logic Max was suggested to me. What's your opinion on them?0 -
Worcester Bosch and Vaillant are widely regarded as the better ones on the market.
My Worcester Bosch is 8 years old and not leakingEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

If there is water dripping onto the electrics then get the leak fixed, unless the boiler case has a hole in it I see no reason to bin it, some pictures would help (post them on a photo hosting site & post the links here without the www & the forum will think it's just text)I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Would he come back and fix the leak as good will?.
Well he wouldn't do it for the person who paid him to service it every year so I suspect its very difficult to find and fix.Unless the case is Swiss cheese, can it not be repaired in some way?
It's probably a number of components below the leak also affected. I could see a repair being uneconomic on an 8 year old combi, fix this and wait for the next fault.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -

They asked for a recommendation so you're free to give one instead of slating everything else...
No one bites. Except those slating your choices without providing alternative options.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
