Link parking fine.

After my friend and the driver of my car at the time parked in a new estate in Bristol to see a friend, they were there 15 minutes and when they returned there was a parking fine on the car from Link Parking LTD.
The driver and his friend did see the "no parking" sign however did not take it seriously because they knew they would not be there long and as it appeared to be the case the parking restrictions were in place so to not get in the way of building work, which would be taking place during the day on weekdays, however, this was a Sunday evening.
The main reason they gave for ignoring it, was that there was a box on the sign for a "site ID" that was left blank which caused both the driver of my car and his friend to assume the sign maybe fake or invalid. If that doesn't make it invalid per se, I would say that that could be misleading people into thinking a sign is invalid or not genuine.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the House of Commons recently

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
It's a scam PCN, but not 'invalid' and Link sue people. Read about the game the registered keeper is now caught up in, by reading other residential threads.
Search the forum and read the NEWBIES thread too.
Are you SURE the sign said that? Get photos now, and show us."no parking" signPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

TBH I am still a bit unsure why I need to edit my post.
They do appear to be an IPC member and I checked the website, the sign did say "No Parking for any vehicle". The lack of site ID caused the driver to not take it seriously.
I've been told they can't send debt collectors the worse they can do is slap me with a CCJ which will affect my credit rating?
Should I pay or should I try and appeal, I still have 1 more week then apparently it goes up to £160.
I know it says to wait until you receive the first letter from the firm after 28 days before appealing in the newbie's thread, but in this case, I'm not sure if the driver wasn't really a bit silly and just caught bang to rights and should just pay it?
Because they don't want to get embroiled in s**t. If I wait for that first letter to come will the driver already owe £160 if they lose the apeal? I'm just thinking maybe it would be better to apeal now?
The thing about that letter template is where it says "Your signage terms fail the test of 'large lettering' and prominence of the parking charge, as established in ParkingEye Ltd v Beavis, which is fully distinguished." I'm not sure I could make that claim, Could I just copy and the letter but change that section to "the signage was lacking in a loacation number which caused the driver to assume the signage was either fake of invalid".

Only other thing is the driver did try ringing the number and imputing the number on the fine slip a few days ago and was told that "payment cannot be taken for this charge at this time".0 -
Just send the BLUE template as is, make no changes, deletions or additions. This should have been made clear in the body of the text you were reading where the template is situated.0

OK, but is it a good idea to make the claim about the prominence of the sign when the likely have a photo of my the drivers car parked under the sign that I show in the link above.
And will it automatically go up to £160 after 28 days?
Thankyou for helping BTW.

I'm not sure what you're saying yes to. Yes to the money going up or yes to still claiming about the prominence of the sign?
So I would be better off to just pay?0 -
