The only way to keep the inside clean is to regularly solvent clean it (which probably takes years off your life)

All the filth and fumes from the traffic (VWs ? :D:D) in front stick to the glass if you use the demist vents, plus all the toxins (I made that up, there is no definitive Scientific evidence that exposure to plastics can damage your health) from the plastics inside the car that vaporise when it gets warm and condense on the glass are what help form that sticky film.

Also anything like shiny cockpit cleaner, air freshener, your own pheromones, perfumes, washing conditioners is also going to end up there.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

i use autoglym fast glass, works very well.

Another vote for the autoglym stuff - works fantastic. The wife has started to swipe it and use in the the mirrors in the house etc.

I use EZ Car Care - on the outside I use Clarity 2.0 to clean followed by Gecko which is the repellent. It works a treat.

The inside is very different, tried Clarity on that using a fishscale cloth and it didnt really do much.
  • Undiluted screen wash and kitchen roll works but you have to use elbow grease.
  • Blimey, I see this is quite the subject for some people.
I'm going to splash out on the Auto Glym stuff and see how it goes.

BTW; I find the the microfibre cloths tend to leave very fine lines of the grey film on the inside of the screen currently.

Nilglass is cheaper and performs better in my experience. Also, it's best if you get glass specific MF cloths, such as the ones I posted earlier.
  • I gave it the once-over with a chamois lether and clean warm water yesterday and it looks so much better all ready!

I find window cleaning solution/water + vinegar works, but to get rid of smear marks I then follow up with a dry microfibre cloth.

If I leave it too long between cleans it becomes hard work... :o
