This doesnt bother some people, but it does me.

I like the inside of my windscreen to be clean.
But what I get is a misty grey film.
Ive tried Car Plan Screen Clean because it had good reviews, but it looks clean for a day, then the grey fim is back. Ive tried warm water with washing up liquid, same results.

Has anyone got an idea on how I can clean the inside of the windscreen and keep it clean?

Update: I have bought a load of fine cloths specially for the job as well!

Invisible Glass or Nilglass cleaner and a couple of good glass cleaning cloths should do you.

You need to give it a good clean with plenty of product in your first pass to get rid of all the grime and grease then go over it again with the second cloth for a final clean and buff.

Wash with water with white vinegar in it and squeegee it off.

Autoglym fast glass for me also. Works a treat.

Carplan stuff is budget it works but there is better stuff.

No idea if anything is better than the fast glass, the 500ml bottle i bought years ago lasts a very long time so not needed to look for anything better.

And replace your pollen filter, if it has one.

I am not alone! I got totally obsessive about being able to see where I am going, and crystal-clear glass is a real pleasure.

I watched several YouTube videos on this subject a few weeks ago and followed the advice - basically, clean inside and out with rubbing alcohol (I used meths), then with glass cleaner, then with glass cleaner again with a fresh microfibre cloth. For the outside, add a layer of carnuba wax.

It looked brilliant for a few days, but then the wax coat wore off in the rain and the glass no longer beads the water (Rain-X does better). Yesterday morning, lots of condensation and the grey film returned to the inside of the screen. Wiping it even with a clean mf cloth just pushed the grey around. Very disappointing.

Interested in all the suggestions so far, and will try them. Thanks.

  • I find paper towels to finish off leave it much better than any cloth. I hate it dirty, but as they are so hard to get clean I hate trying to do it.

Really not that difficult with the right products and method. The key is getting a couple of good glass cleaning microfibre cloths, I'd recommend a waffle weave cloth and smoother glass cloth for finishing, such as something like these https://www.ragmasteruk.co.uk/glass-and-window-microfiber-towels.

If you have trouble reaching down the lower edge of the windscreen then you could try something like this http://amzn.eu/d/0Ve45gf although Halfords do something similar and cheaper.
