Where can i buy cheap space saver wheels?
Hi,
I've come across a shop on eBay and he appears to be selling lots of different types of space saver wheels for various makes and model cars. In case anyone doesn't know the space wheel is just another name for a spare wheel but it's much thinner then a full sized tyre.
From checking out his store he seems to be selling quiet a few and it's something am thinking of trying to do myself but the thing is i can't seem to find a supplier who will supply me the tyres at a cheap enough price to compete with him. His tyres are selling anywhere between £30 to £40 and that includes the jack and brace kit but all his tyres are used. Any ideas where he might be getting them from?
Cheers

£30-£40 doesnt seem too bad - you wouldnt really need a new tyre as you wouldnt be using the space saver very often if at all and it would only be for a day or 2.0

It sounds like you're looking to buy in bulk then re-sell and try to under-cut him?0

Thanks for all the replies you've been very helpful:-)0

OP, have you got a local car reclaimers/scrap yard near you? Given most spacesavers languish in the boot all the time, there should be plenty of scrap vehicles with otherwise good condition stuff in the boot. Could be a good business for both you and the scrap yard, and if it takes off, they might give you other contacts as well.0

Going rate at the scrap yards is £20 to £40 for spare wheel and tool kit. Likely the seller on ebay owns a scrap yard.
Once you factor in ebay fees postage costs and trader losses from time wasters on eBay you would struggle to turn a profit if you are paying anything for the spare wheels.0 -
Second-hand spacesavers are plentiful: first, from scrapyards, and second because people (like me) often replace them with proper wheels.
On the other hand, not much demand. There are few circumstances where anyone would want to buy one.
So, perhaps not a particularly good business model.0 -

2 of our 3 cars only came with gunk in the boot, I need 2 space savers ( or full size spares)0
