Getting compensation from a bank account

Hello everyone , i have a problem i need help with.. Basically i have the Cash Plus account , last week i deposited money into my account and paid for my car insurance , the money have been deducted from my card but even after 4 days they did not reach the insurance company. So because of this my car insurance has been cancelled due to a missed payment.. I called the CashPlus and have raised a complaint and i am waiting for the outcome , basically what it is is the fact that due to having had a policy cancelled now, when i want to get a new one there's always the question : '' Did you have a policy cancelled, voided... ? '' and because of my ''bank'' i did have a policy cancelled so i have to say YES and when i do that most of the insurers wont even give me a quote and the ones that do want a lot of money.. I have tried to explain the problem to the insurance company that i was insured with but the policy was cancelled already and they wont change that. So i have included that in my complaint and i am hoping to get compensated for the amount of a deposit for the new policy, even tho i should propably include the entire 12 months difference that it is going to make for me as my monthly payments were £91 but the cheapest one i can get now is £200 so in a year it will make a huge difference to my finances but anyway the thing is the ''bank'' has up untill 11th of October to get back to me with the outcome , i am in no position now to buy the new insurance as i cannot afford it.. But obviously i need my car insured to drive it , so i was thinking if i have a chance of getting atleast a 1 week insurance paid by the Cashplus now ? Or what are my options? Also if anyone had similar experience or knows what i can expect from the complaint ? I am hoping they will take the responsibility and pay me for the financial loss i am now experiencing cause of their error , any info would be really helpful. Thank you.

Agree with the above that the lack of grammar makes it hard to read. You can click edit and adjust it.

I will give it a go and answer some of it....
last week i deposited money into my account and paid for my car insurance

By money do you mean cash or cheque?
How long was the gap between paying it in and you buying the car insurance?
the money have been deducted from my card but even after 4 days they did not reach the insurance company.

Was it actually deducted from the account as a transaction or was it just showing as an earmark? (pending transaction)

Have you ascertained whether the bank is the one at fault?
When the payment failed, most car insurers would contact you to let you know the payment failed and give you a short window to pay. What did you do when that happened?

Also, if it showed as an earmark and the insurer verified the payment went through then the bank wouldn't cancel it after that.
what i can expect from the complaint ?

its probable that there was no fault by the bank and they will reject your complaint. However, we can only second guess things at this stage. it could easily be the insurer's fault. Or no fault at all.

  • All is not clear.

You put money into your account (electronic transfer?) used a debit card to make a payment and the money was actually deducted from your account. I am assuming it shows on your account as a payment to the Insurance company.

How did you know that the payment hadn't reached the insurer after 4 days - did they contact you? If so, what did they say when you told them you paid by debit card and the money had left your account?
  • Im sorry if its hard for you to read but im pretty sure the words are pretty clear and correctly spelled so anyone with a decent amount of iq should easily understand the post? I am not an english teacher and it is not my first language but it is clearly understandable so if you dont have a relevant advice then please just dont waste your energy and my time :) The bank is at fault as their system was down for 3 days , they did notify the customer about this via an email. I deposited cash , the money have been available to use straight away , there was nothing unusual i made an online debit card payment , money have been deducted from my account and that was the end for me , i thought it was paid already. This was a payment for a missed direct debit which bounced back into my account 2 weeks ago due to no fault of my own again , i had money in the account but it bounced back anyway , i noticed the letter on friday that i have to pay by the 20th of this month , i paid on the 17th which would not cancel the policy if the bank didnt have a system issue. They have offered me £50 as a gesture of good will but i know i am entitled to get a compensation , otherwise they wont even offer me anything. Please dont reply if you just want to try and insult my grammar , my words are clear and spelled as they should be so if its hard for you to read the post then i suggest you dont read it at all. Thanks
  • I have received an email from the insurance company the next day i paid , that my policy was cancelled. Im sorry if it sounds like i dont appreciate the replies here but it seems to me that you guys are missing the point. I will make it clear for everyone then ::
2 week ago direct debit for insurance bounced back
i had till the 20th to make the payment
on 17th i deposited CASH and made a payment online ( not a transfer )
on 18th i received an email that the policy was cancelled
I contacted the bank but could not get thru their phone was down
I also contacted the insurance company but they said payment was not made
on 19th still could not get thru to the bank
on 20th received an email from bank , apology for their system issues.. And that they're trying to work out a way to compensate those directly impacted by the system breakdown..
On the same day called the bank , raised the complaint , tried speaking to the insurance company explaining situation to them but they wont do anything about it. Policy was cancelled thats the end of it..

    Is that clear now ?

    How very rude.

My only advice would be to get your attitude calibrated.
  • Whats rude is trying to insult someone instead of actually trying to help them , i asked a question about a bank account not my grammar. If its hard to read then just dont and ignore it , simple as that. I didnt ask for anyone's opinion about my grammar did i? Thank you.

Re-read my advice to you on the initial post which was written to help you get more responses and help.

Your next responses have probably now led to others standing back and not bothering giving you their wealth of knowledge.

As I say, calibrate your attitude and stop being so precious.
  • :D One cant believe what he's/she's reading , the other one tells me its hard to read my post and he gave up , and then he calls it '' help you get more responses'' Im really sorry if i come across as rude but im really in no mood to be discussing my grammar , i was expecting to get some help here not this. Did my question come across as rude? Did i offend anyone IN MY QUESTION? I did not so im sorry if it made me a little mad that instead of getting some actual help i got an insult. And im the bad one in the end :D Forget it guys , thanks for your help.
