Organza_Lace my first ever dog-sitting guest was blind. She very quickly learned how to go past the leather chair (a rocker, which would have likely pitched her on the floor) and exactly how high to leap to get up onto the sofa. I made sure she had plenty of room to do this by moving the coffee table out a bit, and she was fine - and this was in a house she'd never been to before. So as long as you don't shift the furniture around, Black'un will be fine just using her nose to navigate. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Late post from me, I have managed to pop in and read a few threads each time I have had a lunch break though.
Shattered and all joints painful today, but plodding on, lots of washing done (still more to do from holiday), sunny and a good breeze, so just the ticket. OH has emptied the caravan, so house looks like a jumble sale:rotfl: I did a quick supermarket run, timed it before the children came out of school so it was really quiet (still not confident parking bigger car in some car parks). Meal plan done for the next few days.
Organza_Lace great to see you back, sorry about Blackun, but sure she will be fine under your care.
meanmarie, busy time you have been having, hope your meal is nice, lovely when someone else cooks.
AOD hope that you and DS feel better soon.
Rosyred I hope that you get chance for a breather soon.
Jackie fingers crossed for Ben's interview.
mehefin rotten luck about the Rayburn part, don't kick yourself too hard about it.
TA good that Mr TA was able to eat a little, hope that he can get out in the wheel chair. Take care of yourself as best you can. x
Bellabella any room at your table? pie and mash sounds really tasty.
csarina looking forward to learning what you are going to be making.
-taff had to grin at the thought of you trying to wrestle the gutter contents from the cleaning man.
Gers good that your students are coping with such a busy schedule, I hope that your DM is still doing well.
Lainey hot water again what bliss, to Lou shedding a shoe though.
Speky your holiday sounds great, good luck on the job/promotion front.
redruby many years ago I used to work with a guy who was known by the other chaps as effin D******, as every other work he uttered began with F:eek:
ScarletRibbons hope that you do well in the quiz tonight. I used to be pretty good, but these days completely out of touch re pop music, childrens cartoons etc and films:o
silver-oldie I hope that the lemon tree is all snuggled up for the winter, the grass here has grown a mile again.
camelot wow, great that you were able to get the work done before the warranty expires.
nelski Hopefully a more peaceful night is on the cards for you.
Holly thank you for the new thread, you are doing great at getting organised before your op. Well done.
It seems that my break has finished OH is nagging me to get my marigolds on and do some cleaning in the van, he has been working like a Trojan all day bless him.
Hugs to Poppy and others that I have missed to name, take care all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Hello all, especially Organza lace....... I missed you !!
Nelski before I forget, I had one of those... woke up one morning with a completely black eye and it was diagnosed as an allergic shiner. Perhaps it is that.
TA your description of DD made me smile just to imagine her walking along weighed down with all that stuff and dragging more behind her. I hope Bob and your family have had a good ( ish ) day, today. Keep your chin up lovely, I am sending you all much love xx
As it was a beautiful day, with a warm sun and a gentle breeze, we decided to over the van to give it a thorough clean, inside and out. We took sandwiches and a flask so we were there nearly all day, it was lovely :j. I have brought some more stuff back and the carpets, which need a clean too, but that will get done in good time. I just wish I'd put a wash out this morning before we left. Tea was leftover pork in a HM sweet and sour sauce with chips, followed by HM apple pie and ice cream, mmmmm !
I think I shall treat myself to a relaxing soak in a bubble bath tonight.
AOD hope you get better quickly, mine didn't come to anything in the end...... strange, but welcome as I don't have the time to be ill :rotfl:.
Holly I hope you enjoyed your meal
Sending gentle hugs to the poorly, their carers or anyone who wants / needs one. The hug bucket is full so please help yourself.
Take care

Good evening everyone :hello:
Just a quickie from me to wave hello. Lee seems a lot better today thank goodness. His care co ordinator came over this afternoon to help him write an application for college. He is still quite keen to go although understandably nervous. I am having a big wobble though and it didn't help that I watched last nights BBC1 programme about the terrible state of children's mental health services. It reminded me too strongly of this time last year when I was afraid to even go and wake him in the morning because of what I might find.
It is nice to read of everyone's days whatever has been happening and it is lovely to hear from organza lace again x
I'm off for a big cuddle from Steve and a restorative cup of tea. Hope you all have a pleasant evening, take care xx0 -
Good afternoon everyone. It is a glorious autumn day - the sky is blue with fluffy white clouds, brilliant sunshine but a bit chilly in the shade.
Before I start responding to everyone’s posts, may I just say thank you all very much for your kind wishes regarding my DH. It is a bit worrying that he has to wait for his op & he is trying to keep busy. However he is restricted in what he can do& he is rather miffed that he cannot ride his motorbike  However he has found a project - he is currently blitzing parts of his office :rotfl: I rarely venture in as it is a sty - just saying :rotfl: just pop in to deliver cups of coffee & pick things up when he has forgotten to bring them downstairs & already has his outdoor shoes on. We have a new stair carpet & it is ‘verboten’ to go upstairs wearing shoes :rotfl::D
Holly, thank you for starting us off - I keep trying to send Mr Sandman your way but he keeps settling on my DSis :rotfl: She nods off in the middle of doing a Sudoku :rotfl: I don’t think the English doctors have got her heart meds sorted yet - seem to use different brands from those she had in France:( Re turning on the heating, don’t think of it as giving in - it is a precaution to keep yourself as healthy as possible prior to commencement of your treatmentYour prepping is leaving me in awe :T
AoD, it never ceases to amaze me how grotty a streaming cold can make you feeland Thank You :T for not spreading your germs - shame there aren’t more considerate people like you
Nelski, hmmm - mysterious black eye - you aren’t a somnambulist are you(ooh, I do love that word :rotfl:)
Camelot, nice tidy garden for the winter thenNice to still have colourful pots - brings a smile to my face
Silver-oldie, glad you had a nice lunch - food poisoning sounds dreadfulSo organised re the garden :T - our garden tidying has come to a bit of a halt so I need to get my ‘arris in gear :rotfl:
ScarletRibbons, exercise - what’s that?, shopping - needs must
but quiz night :j - hope you win
Redruby, your description of your client group did make me smileso thank you :T
Speky, fingers crossed for both the pay rise & the new job offeryou will then have options
Lainey, well done to your plumber:) The joy at having a warm house and hot water shone through from your postHope the farrier is available for Lu.
Gers, you are obviously having a positive effect on your class :T
-taff, you have nicer pigeons than we have - leaving you plants in your gutters :rotfl: Sounds like you are busy - the preparation work for decorating is such a slogbut vital if you only want to do it once
The best thing about it is that when you have finished the decorating, it looks like a professional has done it & when family & friends admire the handiwork you can bask in the warm glow of having done it yourself
:T
Csarina, hope you didn’t burn yourself - a proper fireI do miss my DSis’s fire in France - far more cheering than CH :rotfl: Hope the car repairs aren’t too expensive.
bellabella, a practical DS - after all a new bike will come with warranty& I like it that your DS can wait to get exactly what he wants :T Good on you for looking for voluntary work :T
TA, pleased that your life seems to be settling down a bit. Well done to MrTA for managing a little bit of food - hopefully acceptance of the doctor’s gentle suggestion might lead to the Mr feeling a bit stronger. Your description of the care that MrTA, you & your family are receiving gladdens my heart.
Mehefin, hope the smoke box repair goes wellIs there anyway to change your route so the low sun doesn’t have such an adverse effect? Would a peaked cap help to mitigate the effects?
JackieO, the wedding venue sounds idyllic - have you picked out your hat yet :rotfl: because of course the rest of the wedding outfit is always bought to go with the hat :rotfl: errr isn’t it :rotfl:
Fingers crossed for Ben & good luck for quiz night
Organza_Lace, so lovely to hear from you - I have missed you, but perfectly understand why you are keeping a low profile. Just wish there was something we could doSo sorry about ‘Blakun’
but I see there is lots of useful advice from our lovely group of OSers
RosyRed, hope you enjoyed your lunch and that your day has calmed down a bit, no make that a lotIt made me tired just st reading about your morning :rotfl: I nearly went back to bed :rotfl:
Meanmarie, wish I could have some of your cooking apples
Maddiemay, what a lovely chatty post :T Are you sure the Marigolds fit :rotfl:
Nannywindow, ditto to another lovely chatty post :T. Proper prep to go off to the van :T whenever I decide to do some project I invariably forget something & have to wander back & forth trying to find whatever it is I have forgotten :rotfl: mind you I do need the exercise :rotfl:
Enjoy the bubble bathhmmm, maybe I should treat myself to one :rotfl:
I have finally got around to doing some housework today :rotfl: Started upstairs - vacuumed - our bedroom including under the bed (but haven’t done a very good job), the spare room, the bathroom & the landing; cleaned the window frames & sills & the windows in the spare room, our bedroom & the bathroom; washed down the skirting in our bedroom & also cleaned all the light switches upstairs; lastly I relocated various decorating bits from our bedroom to the dining room for onward transmission to the garage - a job for tomorrow :rotfl:
I will be off now, as this post has taken at least 3 hours to write :rotfl: as I kept getting distracted :rotfl:
(((Hugs))) to all

I have just caught up on your news and hope that things go as well as possible for you all. It is encouraging that DH is trying to eat a little and I hope he can have as good quality of life as can be managed.
Have spent the last two days leaving the house at nine and getting back at seven to help DD with baby and be an extra pair of hands. Now have my feet up and will have a quiet morning tomorrow before setting off to volunteer at the library.
Nelski
Your black eye is quite a surprise and I hope it heals quickly.
Dunpling
Fingers crossed for Lee and the idea of college sounds encouraging.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Good evening everybody  - very late coming online this evening
.
Had a really beautiful day here today, but it got oh-so-cold as the sun set this evening. I've been very busy with 'so-so' effect .
Appointment with a GP that I'd never met before - BP still not behaving itself, but I've no idea why it should be suddenly like this. I take my meds as instructed - I'm losing weight as instructed - I'm eating sensibly. Just not very 'active' at the moment, due to recovering from Knee Replacement, but still 'doing as much as I'm physically able to do' ..................... awaiting a referral to 'Activity for Life' at the local gym (courtesy of the lovely Physio Ladies). New GP has increased one of my BP meds by a small amount morning AND evening, and wants to see me again next week. So cheesed-off with all the recent appointments - it's been non-stop for about 4mths
.
Visited Lidl for some fresh milk, Fat Free Yoghurts, Gluten Free Thins and also picked up a pack of 80 Wildflower Bulbs - I have an area at the bottom of my garden that is like a 'nothing area', where I think the bulbs would be a wonderful addition. This could be a really good project for my DGS1 - seeing as he's doing 'Horticulture' at the moment at his Farm Based Education Centre :j!
Sending ((((HEALING HUGS)))) and prayers for all those who need them - especially HH, Mr and Mrs TA, AoD and Mr SD - oops forgot to mention Nelski's 'black eye'.
Best of luck to all dealing with home improvements / decorating / repairs - hope they all go smoothly for you.
I'm out very early tomorrow morning - need to be at my Orthopaedic Consultant's Clinic by 9.15am tomorrow morning (in the next town), so will be catching the 'Shuttle Bus' from our local Hospital at 8.30am - no chance of using the Bus Pass that early................... and then they wonder by my BP is so high !
Goodnight and God Bless everybody xx0
