Gutters cleaned, yay, have some new plants for the garden, some bird had managed to drop a daffodil bulb up there which was merrily growing away, along with some kind of hedging plant. Kept everything else for the compost heap, but it was a bit of a struggle to get the cleaner to understand I wanted the rotting moss....he did look at me like I was crazy but that might have been something to do with the fruity sauce smeared alongside my mouth that I hadn't noticed was there from my bacon sandwich...[insert embarassment smiley]
Sanding down doorways and thinking about replacing plasterboard in the ceiing area, I took off the polystyrene tiles and there are big glue blobs everywhere...can't paint them without them showing through..
Thanks SD, and I hope they sort his eye out soon. I had surgey for a torn retina once, I've never felt so ill, I had hammers banging in my head for days. Not the same thing but he has my sympathy.
Nelski, you must have had some dream to punch yourelf in the face...you might have to tie your hands before bedtime

Morning all
Brrr chilly here again apparently we are to have a late heatwave towards the end of the week and this weekend :j that would be very nice indeed !!
Off to work today nice quiet client group today just three in today and one is non verbal, but one is very sweary to make up for it !!
Not sure what is for dinner tonight will go and look in the fridge after this, there is several bits in there including chicken and mince I think so we wont starve.
Need to do a wash tonight will have to put it on the airer, also we need to have the fridge freezer defrosted by sat morning or the wont collect !! So we need to work out the logistics of not having a freezer or fridge for 24 hours !!
Right I had better get on, have good days all xx
TA thinking of you both xx
What time are they collecting your fridge freezer? You can do a quick defrost with a hair dryer and hot water. I was lucky when I changed mine it was a frost free, was able to pack the freezer contents into a freezer box with ice packs which kept stuff frozen. I had a delivery from Muscle foods their ice blocks retain the ice for 24 hours.
Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))) if you need one. Thinking of the TA's as always.
Bright morning, but we have had a frost. When I came through the fire was still hot had to use the handle for the ash can, first time in 3 years. As soon as I put the firelighter on it burst into flames, so its lit but shut down. Will be putting a shovel full of slack on it. I am having to move the big lumps of coal over to get at what slack there is underneath. Think I will be getting the sweep in a couple of weeks.
CA was a bit earlier this morning, OH up, washed and dressed.
Waiting for the garage man to collect the car for its service, it needs the cam belt changing so a big bill, it will wipe out the car account and more I suspect.
No laundry today. I started cutting something out yesterday, not sure how its going to work as yet, making a prototype first.
Smoked haddock, poached egg with bread and butter for supper tonight. there is a banana in the fruit bowl so will use that up.0 -

RR Ooh a heatwave I will leave the spa up then we were going to put it away this weekend
HH We had to put the heating on Sunday its not even October  hope its not a sign of things to come
TA Thinking of you
Not much happening here DS didn't buy the bike yesterday i think he is going to save for a new one he is nearly there so by end of October he should be able to afford it. Dinner tonight is pie n mash . I think after xmas I am going to start looking for some voluntary work 1 or 2 days a week just to get out and mingle but i am not sure what i fancy doing as yet.
Right onwards n upwards have a great day xSlava Ukraini0 -
Morning folks and greetings from the Hospice. Mr TA is just having a nap after the hectic morning routine of early drinks, medicines, breakfast etc. A little lull now before the nurses are round to do the bed baths (or showers) fresh jimjams and sheet change.
Yesterday was a busy busy day with a constant stream of professionals coming in to see him (and us) from doctors to nurses, to physios, social worker, therapists, etc. etc. It was never ending with the usual visitors in among. I hope today is more peaceful for all of us. The doctor suggested bringing in his zimmer and wheelchair and trying to get him out of bed a little bit more. DD collected those last night and is bringing them in this morning after the school run. He even listened to the doctor telling him he really must try and eat something other than liquids so for breakfast he managed a few beans and some grilled tomato. He felt a bit sick but kept it down.
DD just arrived like the bag lady with all the stuff she brings in every day, as well as towing the wheelchair and zimmer!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all else in need of them xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all from Mehefinland
Hugs and spoons to those in need.
Well a bright cold start to the day again, A lovely change after the incessant rain over the weekend.
Went to clean out Rayburn ready for the annual battle of the lightup and hit a snag. Part of the smoke box has corroded and is u/s . Searched online for a replacement bit and the best I could get is the whole assembly for £250 ish +VAT:eek: Called local sweep and he reckons it should be repairable but he cant come until the 17th. Serves me right for not checking it when we let it out earlier this year.
Recycling men have just been, remarkably they actually took it all today and didn't do the usual trick of recycling it onto the floor:j:j
Shouldn't complain but this low sun in the morning is a killer when you are trying to walk against it. Blinding headache as a result. At least I didn't get a Nelski eye
Bye for now

Mrs TA my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time Take all the time and help you need honey and I am sure I say for all of your 'virtual' friends on here that we are all thinking of you and what you are dealing with,God Bless you both xxxx
Well today the sun is shining and the sky is blue here in Kent although it is a bit nippy. So far I have resisted putting the heating on ,just an extra cardi
The weekend went well and on Sunday morning DD and her Ma-in-law and I went to see the wedding venue that our granddaughter has chosen Its very nice and set out in the Kent countryside near to Canterbury at a place near Plucks Gutter (the gutter being a small river )beautiful ground and everything laid on for the bride and groom but I hate to think how much it will cost. When we got there, the rain just poured down and we all got quite damp and it was very cold so I have developed a bit of a sniffle at the moment. But it was an interesting place and the happy couple seemed to be pleased with it.
Ben's got a second interview but it had to be rearranged for Friday as the big boss was ill, so a few more days of anticipation.
Quiz night tonight at the pub, so no dinner needs to be cooked in my house at leastJust off to coffee morning for a knit and natter
Have a good day chums whatever you are doing

I'm ok, found out on Saturday that 'Blackun' is now blind. We had suspected it for a while but the words cut like a knife.

Hi everyone,
I was going to say good morning ,then realised it's afternoon! I've been rushing round like a mad thing so dont know where the morning went.DS2 & I had to get DGS to school on the other side of town. Not his usual night to stay over but his Mummy was at the hospice with her Dad. She has sent extra school uniform in case there are more unplanned stopovers.
My brother has just called to bring DGDs birthday pressie for tomorrow.I went in town to choose some things for her yesterday, just need wrapping now. He had to double back and come a different way due to the roadworks,it's all a bit chaotic and changes everyday.
It's good to hear from you TA, thinking of you.
Also good to hear from Organza Lace, sorry to hear your poor dog has gone blind. We do miss you,but I understand why.
Nelski-hope the eye improves soon, you must have had a rough night. Will make up disguise it ?
Speky, you sound like your batteries are well and truly recharged
My mind has gone blank now, think I need some lunch so sending love to all in need xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Just catching up now. I am starting to feel less awful though still sneezing and sniffing for Britain, I don't actually think that I can be a pleasure to have around at present. Certainly not a pleasure to my DS as he hasn't been well and is quite miz so has been taking it out on me.
Scarlet Ribbons, you are quite right, trying to wend my snotty way to work would have been a misery, I probably wouldn't have gone due to vast open plan office where everyone shared lovely germs, though the sickness policy was draconian, totally inflexible. I know this having had to implement it on a couple of people I managed, and it was unfair, I hated doing it.
Orgsnza_Lace, I'm so pleased to hear from you as I've really missed you. I'm sure we all have. When one of very old dogs went blind, the vet said try not to worry as dogs are much more reliant on other senses than we ate, just don't move the furniture around and she would be ok. I was very doubtful but she did manage well. I do miss having dogs., they were such a comfort when life git me down.
Nelski I remember having a completely unexplained black eye about 8 years ago and in the end I put a notice on my desk at work saying yes I know I have a black eye, no, it wasn't my husband. The skin was very sore and it turned out to be a skin infection all round the eye. To add insult to injury, this was shortly before I got my ancient person bus pass and you could get a cheaper travel pass through work but only at very specific times and I had to provide a photograph when it was at its worst. I ended up buying make up and trying to cover it up so didn't look like me.
Speky, goid to hear that you had a great holiday, good luck with the interview.
TA still thinking of you and sending love.
I'm going to find something productive to do now.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Afternoon all,
Kind thoughts to all in need of a boost, especially the TA family.
Nice to see you Organza Lace..... love the name.
Been a busy day...... dgd6 here at 8am and just gone home with mother and sisters a few mi utes ago...... Next duty day is Friday so will take next 2 days easy.... not sure this tearing around the country is good for me
DS1 in charge of dinner today, I know its chicken so combo remains to be seen.
Very cold here earlier, still colder than forecast but sun is making a brave effort to come out, need to recover some of the apples the wind has knocked. Usually people are delighted to have cooking apples donated to them, this year everybody seems to have a glut.
Have a good day everybody
