Horizon parking Sainsbury's Kingston

Good morning, new member here.
I've seen many of your posts and are all very useful, although I couldn't find an answer for my case.

Last week I went to the car park in Kingston as I needed to do some shopping. I often go to Kingston but I never ever used this car park before. So I parked up and did my shopping, at the till the assistant asked me if. I needed a parking voucher and I say yes. Then I asked how it worked and the assistant told me that if I was shopping in town I could have paid later. So I left my shopping in the car and went to Kingston for some other shopping.

When back I scanned my voucher at the machine but the message that appeared said I overstayed for more than 4 hours and a ticket might come through the post.

I admit I did not read the signs previously to my shopping but when asked a Sainsbury's staff I was told to pay later (like any other car park that I know of) and time limits were not mentioned either.

I've tried to call horizon parking helpline but its just full of recorded options and maybe it's better to seek some advice from you.

Thanks for your help.

  • You say you have seen "many of your posts" but couldn't find an answer, there are lots of posts regarding overstay on here.

You need to go to the newbies section and thoroughly read it until you understand the game you are now involved in.

First port of call is to try and get Sainsburys to cancel this PCN, they do have the power to do this so ultimately don't take no for an answer, might take quite a few emails and polite persistence and even an email to the CEO but well worth the effort.

All new posters are advised never to mention who was driving, you need to edit your post accordingly, only refer to "the driver" or "the registered keeper" on any correspondence with the PPC.

Sainsbury's still trying to get rid of their customers then ?

Tell your story to the CEO and point out that customers
rely on good information from his staff

In this case his member of staff failed in customer service

Ask for this ticket to be cancelled immediately

You appear to have missed the post at the top of this board that tells Newbies to read it first.

In that post is an appeal template for you to use.

Post one of the Newbies Sticky covers your "case" completely - You clearly agreed to read that first and you need to be properly informed by reading it before making fundamental mistakes like phoning a PPC!
  • Ok thanks for the your help, just needed some confirmations. In case or when I will receive the ticket I will reply IMMEDIATELY through their website appeal section with the following:

    Re PCN number:!

I appeal and dispute your 'parking charge', as the keeper of the vehicle. I deny any liability.

There will be no admissions as to who was driving and no assumptions can be drawn, nor was there an agreed contract. Your signage terms fail the test of 'large lettering' and prominence of the parking charge, as established in!ParkingEye Ltd v Beavis, which is fully distinguished.

Should you fail to cancel this PCN, I require with your rejection letter,!all!images taken of this vehicle & the signs at the location that day. Do not withhold any images or data later relied on for POPLA/court.

Firms of your ilk were unanimously condemned in 2018 as operating an 'outrageous scam' (Hansard 2.2.18). The BPA & IPC were heavily criticised too; hardly surprising for an industry where so-called AOS members admit to letting victims 'futilely go through the motions' of appeal and say on camera 'we make it up sometimes' (BBC Watchdog).!

I will be making a formal complaint about your predatory conduct to your client landowner, as well as complaining in writing to my MP and ensuring that they are appraised of the debate where Parliament agreed unanimously:!''we need to crack down on these rogue companies. They are an absolute disgrace to this country. Ordinary motorists...should not have to put up with this''.!

    Formal note:

Service of any rejection letter/POPLA code and/or legal documents by email is expressly disallowed. All responses to me from this point on, must be made by post. Regardless of any MCOL online/email system, service of any court claim must only be made by first class post to the latest address provided by me.

    Yours faithfully,
    Name of the keeper

Is that still the most recently updated and still valid letter for the ANPR?

    Thanks

have you not complained yet to the CEO of sainsbury's

It's the way to get this cancelled and out of the way
  • Beamerguy I don't know if I am going to get the bloody ticket yet. Hopefully I won't but if I will I'll go back to store in kingston in first person. I already complained to a member of staff after I got the bad news from the parking machine but I was in a rush otherwise I would have asked of the same person who told me to pay after doing my shopping in town

You haven't had a ticket yet! Stop panicking then. Worry about it if and when it comes.
