Hi
I have currently got a 2MB connection with Blueyonder cost(don't laugh) £35 i know its not the cheapest but it has been very good. But the time is to change there seems some good packages about.
I have a standard BT line £10.50 but use 18899 1899 and Ontel at weekend free calls.
So i am paying £45.50 plus call charges. So i am looking for and upgrade on speed with free calls.
I have looked at Bulldog but the feedback looks crap slow speeds.
Onetel do an all inclusive for £23 including phone and Broadband noconnection charges but only 1 email and 5 mb web space.
I am a heavy user of broadband and need fast unlimited access reliable, ineed 2Mb or above. I live in the Birmingham area.
I was looking at UK Online which is due to start a 8MB next month for £29 a month, with 500GB limit. Has anybody gone with them and if so would appreciate your thoughts.
Any ideas please

I signed up at the start of May - day later I got an email saying 35 working days till they have an capacity on my exchange (luckily my current ISP are bing flexible). The best bit is the offer in the light of this delay to give me two months line rental refund - which turns out to be for the two months until I am connected. To top it all they have so far charged me the connection fee and one months rental and there is no sign of the two month refund. So my advice about uk online - '********!'I think....0

Me too.
Exactly the same as Michaels.
35 working delay in setup and no sign of the 2 month "compensation" payment.
Only email correspondence i've had so far was regarding the 2 month refund. Didn't even get a confirmation email when i completed online registration. So I have no reference numbers or anything. If you try to phone their customer services dept to query any of this, be prepared for a long wait. Have tried on 5 occassions now, over 40min queue each time. Got through once, managed to secure a refund of my first monthly payment (before the 2 month refund was offered), but got very little else from them - "sorry - we are really busy".
IMHO, would be worth the extra few quid a month to get a provider who can actually provide the service they are selling. Look elsewhere!0 -
Hi,
I would look at PlusNet. I have been with them for some time now and the service they give you is the fastest your line will support (up to 2Mb at the moment). Prices are either 14.99 or 21.99 depending on whether you go for their 'Plus' or 'Premier' product.
Although they do not have a 'cap' on downloads, the 'Plus' product has certain functions 'throttled' during peak times and is based on 50:1 contention on their network. The 'Premier' product is based on 30:1 contention on their network and does not Throttle the bandwidth (speeds greater than 2Mb will be available on the Premier product soon).
They have a good support structure and can normally connect in 5-7 days. They are doing 'freeish' connection at the moment (read the Ts&cs).
Hope that helps.

been with UKOnline for 3 months now and never had a problem. Contacted tech support tonight about a wireless problem with the router. Was on line for 3 minutes before the answer machine kicked in and asked me to leave my name and number. Was phoned back 11 minutes later and problem was fixed. 11 of my mates are now connected to them and still none of us have any complaints. BTW the refunds are usually given a few days after they are taken from your account. My mate got 2 months back for the connection date being a day late.0

I attempted to join UKonline but after 9 weeks of being told lies about when i would be connected, and over 7 hour on the phone to the shocking customer service they have i gave up. My advice would be to go with someone you can trust. it seems you get what you pay for!0

How about Demon? 2MB unlimited @ £19.99 per month and free set-up?0
