There is a fence along the length of the garden, then the trees and embankment are in front of this. The fence is new though, so ca't really be relied on.

I am unclear whether the row of trees are mine or are included in the embankment and there for council owned.

They don't look like they have been topped for a very long time. They must be over 100 feet tall. There are around 8 of them in a row.
Then you may have bought quite a responsibility.

We have 300m of road hedges, including oak, hawthorn and ash trees. Every year, around now, we must have these trimmed back with a tractor flail. If we didn't do it, we'd get a warning. Then, if we still didn't keep the hedge cut back, the council would come along, do it and send us the bill.

We also have individual trees in the hedge which I've been reducing for the past 4 years, because a few are almost 25' high. I would never let them get to 100' and I kill off any sycamores on sight because of their poor wildlife value and growth rate.

If these are just individuals, you won't need to concern yourself with flailing, and hopefully they might not even be yours, but the council is probably the only body which can advise. Even if they aren't yours, you might be able to negotiate a reduction if you contribute towards it.

Of course not. The site has rules to protect it. You go to the rules and work out how to do it, just like everyone else who posts pictures does. It's not about luck.

Pictures must be hosted on a picture-hosting site. I use imgBB:
They give you a code and you plonk it in your post.

Then, no more guessing required from other people.

Perhaps I am more stupid than everyone else. I am not technically minded. I wouldn't know how to do that. Still, I got the right answer.

You have no obligation to reply to my posts at all.

Yes, quite a responsibility. I doubt the council are going to present me with a bill, as from the looks of it they haven't been touched for many a year. I assumed the trees were mine when I bought the house, now it seems they probably aren't.

Everyone has stronger and weaker areas of knowledge and aptitude, so 'stupidity ' isn't a word I'd use as an excuse for things I can't do well. Am I really too stupid to silicone around baths and showers without messing-up, or do I just need to work at it more?

There's a difference between thinking one can't do something and avoiding it, or trying it a few times and then making that judgement. Even then, where one goes with the experience makes a difference, though whether I'll ever crack the secret of using a silicone gun without getting into a horrible mess remains to be seen!

Assuming things also creates difficulties. You assumed ownership and control of of the trees, but now you think they belong to the council. Each scenario gives very different results, and unlike my getting silicone everywhere it shouldn't be, sorting out the problem of the shading will take serious cash, or it might even be impossible.

At least they're sycamores; one of the least valuable trees for wildlife. If they'd been oaks, you'd have no chance. Talk to the tree officer at the council, firstly to establish ownership and then to see where you might go from there.

Who knows, council officers can be helpful; I got a 20 year old road problem sorted outside our house, but I had to keep badgering over 3-4 years, as the council roads guy suggested, to get it to the onto their 'to do' list.

No, the title plan says nothing. There are no measurements.

The title plan will have a red line round it showing what belongs to you. Are these trees within that red line?
