Postal Redirection - Tracked mail - security concerns

I have been in an abusive relationship, and am moving to a new town a long way from where I currently live and I'm having my mail redirected.
My concern is that my ex-partner will send a Recorded Delivery letter to try and find out where I've gone.
Is it possible the online tracking will reveal the end sorting office? If it does, it will narrow the search down a lot as the town is quite small.
This is a big worry for me and any help is gratefully appreciated.

I expect it will. Maybe redirect to someone else who can forward mail to you?0

If you're able to get the Royal Mail redirection changed - there are loads of firms that offer mail forwarding services.
i.e. You get Royal Mail redirection to a mail forwarding company in a distant town.
The mail forwarding company then re-address it, and post it on to you. (Or if you prefer, some will open letters, scan them and email them to you.)
Google 'mailing address' or 'mail forwarding' etc to see some examples.0 -

Yes it will.0 -
Many thanks for your responses.
My fears are founded, it seems.
I had wondered if I could set up a PO Box and have the mail diverted there but then again it would still show the sorting office on the tracking.
What a situation!0 -

Brilliant advice; I'll look into doing this.
Cost will be a factor but then it will be worth it whatever.0 -
Even if you can set up some form of forwarding occasionally (and it is quite rare these days) something may slip through. Make certain you have changed your address with HMRC & DWP. If a new tax code slips through then he will see from the letter where you are working.
Also any banking you may have as if you pay money in the statement often shows the town where it was paid in.
Keep safe!0 -
If its a small town are you sure that it has more than one sorting office?
Where I live one sorting office deals with the town and surrounding villages with a total population in the region of 20,0000 -

20,000 may seem a lot but when someone is obsessive, and intent on tracking someone down, there is still the possibility they will.
I hope I don't sound over-the-top but anyone who has been in my situation will know what lengths you have to go through to just live a near-normal life and move on.
I'm even changing my car, so it won't be obvious on the driveway. But that's something for a whole new forum to debate.
Mail forwarding seems the best way to go. As they say 'what price peace of mind?'.0 -

Royal Mail PO boxes do not hide addresses. Anyone can enquire with RM to get the details of a PO Box0
