'Welcome back' little elona! :j
I've managed to plant some of the bulbs. Two minutes after I stepped outside the rain started though happily it only lasted for three or four minutes. I'll do more during the week.
Then I decided to do a washing load and risk the weather. That was a success as the skies have remained clear of rain since. Everything is dry and smells of outside. :j
The postie has just brought me a letter from NHS Scotland about the 'flu jag this year. I'm not 65 until next February so rang to query this - it appears it's offered if you turn 65 between October this year and March next year. Nothing like the NHS to make one feel old!
I've written a card to a friend who has been offered a new job and parcelled up an unwanted item to send to a another friend. The uncovered secret stash of books is ready to go to a CS on Monday. Bit by bit this house is being made simple.
Winter long-sleeved Tshirts and jumpers have been retrieved from the spare bedroom wardrobe. I still need some three-quartered sleeved Tshirts out for use as the two centres I teach at have such high temperatures. I've been waiting to wear two new thick cotton jumpers since buying them, if the forecast is to go by then I won't have to wait much longer.
Now I have a date with trash TV!0 -
Hello
I'm posting a bit late, but better late than never, so the saying goes
It is persisting down here and everywhere feels damp and dreary. I have finished the washing and drying at last but now the ironing basket is overflowing. I think I will sort out the holiday stuff and put it away un-ironed, I always wash it again before next years hols anyway, so I'm cutting out the middle man so to speak.( well that's my excuse anyway as I hate ironing  )
This morning we had a round robin trip, first to DD's to drop in their presents from our hols, then down to the What store for some electrical items ( sockets etc for the shed .) Called back round to Morries for more cooking apples, milk etc and the traffic was horrendous, felt more like a Xmas rush , now I remember why we very rarely go out shopping on Saturdays. Finally on to Dad's house to give him a HM crumble and a rhubarb tart. He seemed a little better but he's still not taking his medication as prescribed  :wall::wall: Made it home about 2pm and had a light lunch. Phew !
Now I am having a coffee while waiting for the stewed apples to cool before I crack on with more baking. I shall keep some apple back to go with the pork I shall be cooking for lunch tomorrow.
Tea tonight will be BBQ steaks with probably chips or jackets.
WeeMidgie :hello: nice to meet you.
-taff I'm jealous of you getting ( possibly ) a cat. I miss mine, but as we are away so much in the summer, it wouldn't be fair to ask someone to look after it
Hester I hope you are ship-shape now.
Maddie You made me smile as I have an image of you wearing those bags like I used to, after Mum put my mittens on elastic and then threaded them through my coat, so I didn't lose them :rotfl::rotfl:.
Nelski Hope you enjoyed the hash as much as I did. You can't beat a bit of comfort food
I think my apples have cooled so back to the baking.
Hugs to all.

Just popped back to say I loved "King of Thieves" especially the clips of the actors from nearly forty years ago and the acidic one liners best appreciated when one is not in the first flush of youth oneself.
A parcel has arrived from tkmaxximus with some baby clothes in the next size for new granddaughter as well as some fancy pans for dd's birthday in October. (The pans were what she really wanted, honest but will give her something girly as well)."This site is addictive!"

That's a great feeling elona, being ahead of the game with gifts put aside.
My visit to my friends went well and we all enjoyed the Reiki. Scarlet Ribbons, the best way to see if Reiki is for you is to have a good chat about it with your friend. I felt drawn to it 24 years ago, and waited til I found the right Reiki master for me, he had learned it in Japan and had the right blend of practicality and theory , plus most importantly continuing support and development. It's not just a method of hands on healing, it's an ethical framework which is simple (5 Precepts) and became very much part of me. I haven't been a professional Reiki practitioner, but have used it extensively on family, friends, animals and even in a crisis, on a dead battery in my daughter's scientific calculator, needed for an exam the next day. It worked for the rest of her school career. It helps keep me healthy, basically the more Reiki I do, the better I feel on every level.
I've just had a reduced to clear sirloin steak with broccoli, tomato and French mustard, a rare treat as meat is so expensive these days. Now going to make a hot drink and have a wee browse around the boards. Enjoy your evening. xxx0 -
A little late in the day discovering this thread.
The village church fund raising autumn fete got washed out this morning. Such a shame when they need the money.
My remaining ripe tomatoes were picked this morning before the rain really started. Not a moment too soon but with temperatures dropping ai think the green ones need to come indoors too. Much as I like them tomatoes in this house have become too much of a good thing...it has been such a bumper year for them in this part of the world.
Thankfully I,ve been taking advantage of the Indian summer weather to get ahead in the garde. My next move will be chopping up all the climbing bean and tomato haulms when I pull up the plants and dig them into the trench I,ll use for their next year,s location, where they can rot down on site.
Winter pansies already looking a cheerful sight in the patio pots. I do need some winter colour to cheer up the dreariness of the garden when the flower borders are bare!
Curtains now snugly drawn and my fleecy throw at hand. A good library book calls!0 -

Hello everybody,
Still having problems getting into Old style...... Can get into MSE fine, but have to spend ages f%%ting around to get on here.
Love to all with problems, especially the TAs.
Welcome to those who have arrived in my absence.
I have a pain in my left arm, shoulder si ce I got up this morning, hopefully it is just something silly I did and nothing worse.
We had delicious roast pork for dinner, DD3 was cooking so I just had to eat.
DD2 has had a bit of a hiccup moving into her house, some kind of water leak has led to delay...... her stuff arrived from London today, luckily my brother can provide storage.
Storm Bronagh did very little damage to us, I gather that we will probably escape the worst of Callum, other people have not been so lucky.
It is so lovely to be back amongst you, it will take me a while to catch up with all that's been going on, forgive me if I seem to ignore you.
