Morning everyone
Indeed chillier here today in coastal Kent. A pottering sort of day before we go out tonight for a murder mystery evening, a fundraiser for the very worthy air ambulance.
gammon in slow cooker for slicing up and freezing some for future dinners.
many, many tomatoes still in allotment and the odd courgette too. Have had an amazing summer with produce from it this year. Well worth the £90 a year we pay for a plot.
Thinking of those who have troubles in their lives at the moment xCarolbee0 -
Good morning all,
We're having a celebration of life for my friend's partner today. I have to go and collect balloons and cake so I need to get ready to go out in a minute. My friend whose house we will be at assured me that the weather was going to be great today. Looking outside I'm not so sure. Even the cat is sitting next to the radiator whinging about her central heating entitlement (she has none - she has a fur coat).
The HT is vaguely turning into a proper teenager at last. He didn't wake up until 8:45 this morning. That lie-in has been a long time coming.....a very long time indeed!
Need to get a shift on. Take care all of you0 -
Morning...had the bed all to myself so another night of sleeping like a log, OH went out and came back late and has possibly [probably/definitley] agreed for us to have a cat....Okaaaayyy.......that should be interesting.
Will attempt [or think seriously about attempting] taking down old bed frame and making new one. Mattress should be coming next week, OH has come up with idea of making the frame and just putting old mattress on it for now so there's not so much faff trying to get one bed unbuilt, and another one built. They are different size beds but what the hell. sounds like a good idea in principle
Weather was very cold last night, winter is definitely coming, I'm trying to find ways of insulating the house a bit more, done all the usual of thick curtains etc, am DIYig the porch where I'll be putting celotex or similar inside original door and window frames [ 1930's house with set back door behind an arch if you know what I mean] and covering with wood...\\It sounds like it going to look very ugly, so I'm not sure how that will turn out, or indeed, if I will get round to it before november...we'll see.
Maddie, can you not shove the heatbag into tights or a tight jumper to avoid carrying it round? Or strap it on with a bandage? Jackie O , fingers crossed...
Happy weekend everyone, hope it's a good day for you all.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Jackie O finally looked up your Quot Libras quote at the end of your messages and discovered it means So many books So little time, I can only agree!
Carolbee we only charge £8 per annum for our allotment plots and that includes water yet we cannot rent them out. Currently only one plot in use!
Enjoyed having my sister in law to stay this week, lovely to have some company. Out shortly to coffee and then I am going to make a start on knitting a mother duck and babies for the Christmas Tree Festival. Our Closely Knit group have decided that our theme will be All Things Bright and Beautiful.
Back on the next round of chemo tablets now. Hoping that the exhaustion isn't so bad this time.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
The CA's who have been looking after OH have finished this morning, the new ones start on Monday. We had a conversation. G says that OH has really improved over the last 2 weeks, I have to agree, he is walking better in the house without his stick, But I will not allow him to go out without it. I have finished my back medication this morning, have to see if it is any better, if not it will be back to the Dr.
I put our old mattress topper on freecycle yesterday, if someone can be bothered to cut it up it will make dog or cat beds inside a cover. Someone is coming to collect it this afternoon......
We did not have a very good night, drinking tea at midnight, however I dropped off ok eventually.
Its a horrid morning, very grey and dull there is a bit of a breeze. Its also very cold, so I have lit the fire. I think we have enough coal to last us for another couple of weeks, then I will have to think about getting the chimney swept and putting the heating back on. I am planning on getting a balloon to stop air escaping up the flue. I have towels in the washer, they will be going in the dryer, I doubt they will dry on the line and rain is forecast for later.
Stovies for supper tonight, have chicken for tomorrow, OH is having a job to chew with the few teeth he has left. It will be next friday before he gets his plate back. I have used up some more raspberries in a jelly for dessert.0 -
Morning All
I am so tired we have Kass and i have been walking 4 times a day Dolly is only twice usually so a big difference still will get me ready for Vegas I was rudely woken by a dog walker on the park behind bellowing their dogs name at 7 this morning as i didn't get in till 3am this morning i wasn't best pleased .
Dogs have been walked and I am off to take DS to look at a bike . DH is at work so its all down to me today again starting to feel a bit naffed off as neither he nor DS seem to do anything just leave their stuff everywhere and the fairy will deal with it.
Right thats enough of the self pity we are out with dog walkers tonight for an indibum
Hester try and have a rest later
Jackie O fingers crossed for Ben

Morning all
Dry here atm but at least no rain. tomorrow is meant to be a stormy day for most of us.
I need to go food shopping today DD is coming over so I shall go with her, I need to get some compost as well and a new loo seat, I was having a wee this morning and stood up and the seat cracked under meI wonder if its a sign I need to diet :rotfl: so I will have to try and get another one today.
I am fancying chicken kiev for dinner tonight, Nels that is your fault ! will do some nice chips and salad with it I think.
Got a wash on the go atm will hang it out if I can as I think its just started spitting with rain.
Hester what sounds like hard work !!
AOD take it easy today xx
Have good days all xx0 -
:hello: Good Morning, everybody - looks like a 'reasonable forecast' for today, no threat of any rain until very late afternoon ...................... might just get some of the laundry mostly dry :j.
Hollyharvey - thanks for starting the thread. I'm with you on the stews/casseroles at the moment - definitely getting a bit past the time for lots of salads.
HUH - hope you've managed to get the 'refloat' sorted by now - must have given a right jolt during the hnight !
aod - sounds like you need a 'peaceful saturday' to help sort out your on-coming cold - hope you find the 'Beechams'. I grew up in the town where 'Beechams' first started, so we've always been 'firm believers' in them.
WeeMidgie - enjoy your coffee with friends. I've also put all the summer clothes away and got winter ones out this past week - even wore a thick cardigan/wrap yesterday!
Nelski - your 'full fat flour' Chicken Kiev sounds delicious:rotfl:!
Scarlet Ribbons - enjoy your day in Newcastle.
LaineyT - a day with horses and friends sounds like a good plan :T.
Gers - enjoy your day of reading and bulb planting.
JackieO - sending good wishes for your DGS and his job situation. My niece's husband applied for a Christmas job at the Post Office around 7yrs ago - he's still there today and is now 'full-time permanent' with his own regular round :j.
maddiemay - shame your DH has had his cycling plans thwarted by the weather. Hope he's not disgruntled enough to spoil YOUR plans for the day.
carolbee - I can almost smell that gammon cooking from all the way from here!
CRANKY40 - hope the 'Celebration of Life' plans go well today.
taff - best of luck sorting out your 'bed dilemma'.
poppy811 - Wow £8 per annum for an allotment is fantastic. My son pays far more for his in Liverpool and had to wait over 5yrs to get one . Hope your next lot of meds goes well for you.
Deleted_User - Good to hear of improvement with your OH - hope the next lot of carers work well with you both.
bellabella - maybe it's time for 'the fairy' to stop dealing with everything .
HUH - good luck finding new moorings
redruby - ouch ! The last toilet set that I bought was from Argos. More expensive than A$DA but far better quality - but all depends on whether or not you need to 'match a colour' .................... though I think lots of people are now back to plain white suites in bathrooms. Apart from ME, that is; I'm Housing Association and ours are 'sage green' - impossible to match up these days.
Got laundry in the machine at the moment and it should dry OK on the outside line, airer and radiator racks.
Will have to go to our local shopping centre this afternoon - sympathy card is needed for a lovely friend at church. Her husband passed away last week, after a very long period of ill-health and a very sudden major crisis.
Will also call into the charity shop where I volunteer - would be very rude to walk past their bargains.
Also have a lovely handbag (Mulberry) that has a 'snapped rivet' - wondering if my Mr Fix-All, at the shoe repair place, can do anything with it for me
Will attempt to do things without my crutch this afternoon, as it's not raining - but will take my 'push-along wally trolley' with me, for a bit of extra confidence.
I've taken two frozen beefburgers (butcher's hand-made ones bought on whoopsie) for tonight's tea. Will have them with Actifry Chips, Brioche Buns (whoopsied), Salad and Onion Rings !
Take care everybody and thinking of all who are poorly and caring for others ((((HEALING HUGS)))) to you all.0 -
I agree with people saying how the weather seems much cooler suddenly. I have had porridge for breakfast and lamb stew for lunch and plan on a gammon steak with an egg and actifry wedges tonight.
I need to get the bus to York around two and meet dd at the cinema to watch "King of Thieves" as I have not seen her since last Sunday.
Middle dd has seen a house she and bf are planning on making an offer on. It is in the same town as me which will be handy for them if they want things delivered to me etc but I don't want them to feel I would be hovering over them.
csarina
I am so glad DH is improving :j
I still have summer things in my wardrobe but have been picking out long sleeved tops and am getting to the stage of looking out slightly thicker tops or else a cardigan.
Can't believe that after months of having to make a new account to log on here as I could not access my old e mail, I can now access the e mail and log on here as my original name. I even have the old "skin" and can use smiles. :j:j:j
