"A circling penalty" what ever scam will they come up with next?
  • Zero sympathy. He tried to run someone over because of a three quid charge. Seriously?

I wouldn't want a child of mine in class with someone that would do that.

I think your child would be okay, I've never seen a teacher driving a car in a classroom:beer:

Until this charge was introduced, T1 at MAN was one of the easiest, most efficient drop offs anywhere I have ever experienced, and believe me, over the years I've experienced most. As a pretty regular consumer there, I've never witnessed any congestion - ever. Busy, yes, but the herringbone arrangement and moving on from there, was the epitome of efficiency.

The MAN that I love to get me around the world, has depressingly sunk to the levels of LLJA, BHX, NCL, LTN, and their ilk in the scrabble for coin at the expense of those who provide significant major business to them - their customers!

    Definition of a 'customer'
    THE CUSTOMER'

    1. The customer is not dependent upon us—we are dependent upon him.

    2. The customer is not an interruption of our work—he is the purpose of it.

    3. The customer is not a rank outsider to our business—he is a part of it.

    4. The customer is not a statistic—he is a flesh-and-blood human being, completely equipped with biases, prejudices, emotions, pulse and blood chemistry.

    5. The customer is not someone to argue with or match wits against—he is a person who brings us his wants, through which he brings us our wealth. If we have sufficient imagination we will endeavour to handle them profitably for him and to ourselves.

A Stansted Airport barrier at the Drop off has caused worse grief:

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6204861/Motorist-63-fell-car-outside-Stansted-Airport.html

Blocking in caused this (yes, OK, also he didn't stop the car properly) but the barrier caused this to happen at a Drop off area.

Airport Security is vital but this has nothing to do with it. Airports need to remove the Drop off barriers.

Appalling situation. No doubt fuelled by the added panic private parking companies are injecting into hideously time-restricted entry/exit periods before £100 comes hammering in.

Everyone is on-edge at airports. Utterly shocking situation.

From my point of view, MAN has really let its customers so badly down in the grasp for their coin! Now charging for the use of a luggage trolley, £6+ for a pint, £7.50 for a glass of vino (even at 4.30 in the morning! :)). £5 for a run-of-the-mill pastie, and don't get me started on anything decent to eat. Every corner now boxed off for profit. Duty Free is a joke. Get it cheaper at the major supermarkets.

Other nearby competitor - Liverpool John Lennon. Must be joking, particularly with VCS hovering there to slap £100 on you for merely applying your brakes in their monitored area. I'll (very sadly) take a chance with the £6+ pint at MAN! :rotfl:

No serious, realistic, competition, offers them all the opportunity to extort at every corner. Nothing far off from a cartel arrangement!

  • The only way I have found to take away the stress of this new robbery is to Taxi to the Airport, the drivers know their way around and NO CHANCE of me getting some sort of 'Charge' of course I'm quite lucky in living around £25 away from the Airport so I know this wont be ideal option for everyone but if I want to fly to Marbella for my annual Margarita that's how I do it

(Actually I hate Margaritas, oh well)
