Any suggestions for a good sturdy budget Tablet (Android) mainly to use for downloading films and internet browsing. Around £200 mark or less?
Thanks

I noticed there's a new Amazon Fire HD8 tablet out in October for around £80.
I don't have any experience of them though.0 -
Fire is not Android and is full of Amazon bloat
I know you can get Android apps but you have to faff about0 -

I bought an Amazon fire hd last year when was on offer for £50. It's been great, it runs a custom version of Android that is tailored to Amazon (it has its own app store)
Putting on the Google store is really easy. The only fafffing about is downloading for files and running them. It is child's play and then you have full access to the Google play store.
At the price (there are usually offers) I think it is great value0 -

Fire is absolutely Android, albeit a locked down Amazon customised version, and you can sideload Android apps on them. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

We got one earlier this year (during the Prime Day sales) ... and the Mrs loves it. And as said ... putting Google Play store on is easy.0 -
Any more thoughts on the subject would be appreciated by me too!
My HUDL2 has gone to the great cloud in the sky and I need to replace.
Also a budget Android one wanted (download my Google backups);
but just 8" for the better portability and battery life (usually!).
Will miss not having an HDMI port to watch output on TV (seems to be rare, another method?)
but more important to have plenty of available memory, a reasonably good screen and fair sound from speakers (just general listening and Skype)
as well as a means to output higher quality to the hifi (jack socket or maybe usb adaptor?).
Not really asking for too much in terms of spec and performance anything similar to the HUDL (that did everything I need) would be fine.0 -
It was the 8inch Amazon fire tab I bought (thought it was worth a punt at the price). The speakers are ok but I use blue tooth head phones or speaker.
It has an SD card slot for storage as do a lot of Android tabs.
I used to always look for hdmi slots for tabs but now I cast to Chromecast or a Microsoft wireless adapter (there are loads of other brands that do the same)0
