Good Android Budget Tablet

Thanks ententecordial.
Info on Fire appreciated.
Can anyone help with these further questions or other comments on the Fire?
I understand the Fire uses modified Android. Apart from any Amazon bloatware (can that be removed?); exactly what is the 'faff' to get to google store (a link to instructions?) and how good is it in terms of compatibility with standard Android, such as:
1. if I log on to my google account can I reinstate the apps I used to have loaded from the playstore (or would it be a manual op),
2. would I get access to my data backups (google photos, presumably gdrive will be OK) and
3. what are the shortcomings compared to other budget Androids (in say the range up to about £125 or so.0 -
1. yes
2. yes
3. no - it's currently the best performance/price tablet0 -
Just a thought and I certainly don't know the answer maybe others do - if you install the Google Play Store and then download apps like for example banking apps, credit card apps etc will they run on Amazon fire or do they demand a real Android if I can use that word
the OP may not want to run banking apps etc in which case it doesn't matter0 -

I think that's the guide I followed to put Play Store on SWMBO's Fire HD 8.0

Thank you all.
wonder what happened to the OP...:)0 -
Thank you all for your replies. I had posted the query and then totally forgot about checking for replies the next day. Pleasantly surprised to see all these replies. I think I will go for the Amazon Fire 7. Thanks all.0

I would advise against it. The screen is really low res, making it a pain.
Best to wait for amazon's many sale's where the 8 comes down to £50.
Good for an emergency tablet though, or to take somewhere likely to damge or lose. But unless all you want to do is watch video then it is a pain (text looks bad).0 -

Agreed, I bought the wife a 10" Fire last November for £110 (£150 full price). Their Black Friday sales this year will be on 23rd-26th of November so well worth the wait.0 -
Have now got a version 8 Amazon Fire 8" and it looks excellent value for money. A few things to get my head around, all part of the learning process!
I intend to 'Google' it as per Tom99's provided link in post #15 but First I wish to backup (if that is possible) so that I can revert to the present state if need be. Much like I would do for a windows PC using Macrium Reflect to aid full and easy recovery. The Fire state is as delivered and updates applied with just BBC iPlayer and Weather apps installed but they are not an issue.
1 Can it be backed up completely (and then restored later) if so how?
2. Once Googled can I then do the same - for the device as a whole and then for data files and settings too.
(against my better judgement and my own advice, thinking Google's auto backup would be enough [Doh!] after my HUDL2 expired I have lost some data. Fortunately nothing too serious......The HUDl problem seems to be the motherboard so I guess that's it! for the missing data)0
