Hit an animal - act of God - good or bad?

Hi A friend has hit an horse in his car. The car is written off and he has some injuries. His insurance company say they treat this as an act of God. What does that mean in practice and what else could he do? Thanks GG

You have to inform the Police of certain animals - not all. I can't remember them all. I once hit a deer, returned the damaged car to the rental depot and the guy at the rental counter at Heathrow went ape at me for not calling the Police. So I called them and the officer said "OK. So what? Here's a reference number. You don't need to call us for a deer. Bye."
