Good Morning chums when although its dry and sunny today there is quite a bit of pink/red in the sky so maybe we are due some wet 'n' windy weather.

Morning everyone,
Feel a bit tired after a rubbish nights sleep, the wind was howling around the house and throwing the rain against the window. Luckily no damage done although there is a carpet of apples under the tree!
Hoping to avoid the next band of rain and exercise Lu this morning, other than that I want to get some dried fruit soaking ahead of making a Bara Birth tomorrow and make a winter slaw, it’s all getting very autumnal here.
Welcome Weemidgie.
Good luck to DGS Ben.
Thoughts are with all poorlies or those caring for them, have a good day folks x0 -

Good morning everyone :hello:
I'm very chilly here this morning and I am giving serious consideration to putting the heating on as well. I try to avoid it before October but equally I hate being too cold. Hmmm, I will go and get a cardi on first and save some money.
We had an eventful meeting here yesterday with Lee's care co ordinator. Haven't seen him all summer and then he pitches up with a plan for Lee's education. He told me that Lee was re-enrolled at his school as it wasn't regarded as a good choice for him to be home educated. I was very cross and Lee got very upset. After some negotiation, it was decided that Lee would go to college for 1 day a week to do his maths and english GCSE and he would stay at home for the rest of time for now until maybe a tutor could be sorted out. I am still annoyed about it but obviously I want what is best for Lee. Lee is ok about it as long as he doesn't have to go back to his school so I think it will get sorted eventually.
Steve is on a half day today so I will see him just after lunch, I missed him this morning as I went back to bed and slept through. He will make dinner tonight and we are having gammon, egg and chips. The kids are having a choice of beefburgers or chicken breast with theirs. Tomorrow is definitely stew weather and I will make a crusty loaf to go with it, or rather my breadmaker will.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Whilst still lying in bed and contemplating my 'unstructured' day I decided to pull out my suitcases to declutter most of them. In the huge one I found 35 paperback books.
My day just became more structured...trip to Oban to the tip which recycles and a trip to CS to hand over books!0 -
Good morning, seems quiet outside ATM, wind dropped and not raining for now.
Had a lovely meal with OH's rellies, his 2 Aunts, Uncle, cousin over from Oz and us. Lovely food and good service, shame that it is a bit out of our area to go again.
Jackie best wishes for Ben's interview,
ScarlettRibbons I hope that the shoulder pain leaves very soon, tidy house sounds good.
Camelot have a great time with your family, fingers crossed for good weather.
Cranky it is good that your friend has sorted his problems with AO redruby I hope that you have some success soon. I have read, but do not know this for fact that if the company have a FB page, making a strong complaint on there for all to see usually results in early action.
WeeMidgee what a great idea to use the rebate to fund your swimming, sound a great plan.
silver-oldie what can I say about your visits to your mother, sorry but it did make me smile the thought of her munching biscuits while pretending to be asleep though, really Autumnal here, leaves changing colour and lots being brought down by the wind, we have a lot of trees so persuaded OH to buy a machine that sucks them up and chops them too:D
Gers a free flowing day sounds just the ticket.
AOD I am a chilly mortal and am wearing warmer layers already, but have resisted putting the heat on.
Nanny I hope that you got some more sleep when you returned to bed.
Holly Well done on the gift shopping, have a good day today.
Lainey I hope that you get to exercise Lou, great that she is not upset by the wind.
Thinking of all that are poorly or caring for loved ones and hoping that those who do not post atm are OK, miss some of the previous regulars.
Market day today, then visit to salon to have gel nail polish removed, it did not wear as well as it should have done on my dominant hand, frustrating as away on holidays, but had something of a similar tone with me for toe nails so managed to make it look OK, still a little miffed though:(The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Good morning
Oh I am so happy to have had a really long and luxurious sleep last night. I was so tired I headed up at 8.30 last night then bar one loo stop slept through to 7  My brain finally seemed to relax for a night and worries put on hold
Yesterdays course was really successful again another great group so Im keeping fingers crossed for more work there. Today however I have all the paper work to complete and sort out prep for next week. Will also have a Friday Tidy then its work tonight abeit a little earlier start which should make life easier.
Fancying a chicken kiev for tea as I don't need to worry about garlic breath tomorrow and its unlikely I will be snogging anyone
nan mr Fix it has inspired me I will be adding come corned beef and spuds to the list as I need some hash now. Maybe he would give away his secret recipe to me If I ask nicely.
RR I am shocked at your AO experience I have always found them to be good. You give the CEO a flea in the ear that should do the job. So much for the girl who was personally looking after your case eh
silver_oldie who can ever tell what is going on in their minds eh. Im the only one who visits my mum too yet she takes great pleasure in having a go.
Have a great Friday all0 -
Slept like a log on the sofa, nice not to have to fight for duvets or room....Am waiting for a new mattress for a bigger bedframe managed to get off FB MP for nothing. It's wooden, so should last for a while. Should really strip sand and stain it, but I think I've got about enough energy to oil soap it and that's it.
Going to sort out the will today. Haven't made one before but in the circumstances, I thought it as well to, so we're off to sign everything for that.
And the chilli mac and cheese was very nice for OH, for me, it didn't taste of anything except chilli...But, it was still good, so the recipe has been added to the mental cookbook....
Happy almost weekend, hope you all enjoy something small about your dayNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Good Morning, Oldstylers :hello: -
I see the storm has been affecting many of us overnight wind, rain or for some of us BOTH together brrrrr. Mother Nature woke me up around 2.15am but I went straight back off again. I heard the alarm at 6.30am, but went straight back off againtill 7.30am ................. no excuse at all for feeling tired today! Today is OH's birthday, but he's still in his pit - don't think he likes getting older :rotfl:.
Thanks for starting us off this morning, Hollyharvey - yesterday sounds like a lovely day out. Hope your dentist's visit today is painfree.
nannywindows - I think Mr Fix It should share his Corned Beef Hash recipe with the rest of us :T!
silver oldie - Is it possible to take your mum out occasionally when you visit - even if it's just for 'a trip around the block' well wrapped up, of course - would that perhaps stimulate her interest?
WeeMidgie - enjoy your sewing group and tapestry work today. I miss having a cat to 'sprawl on me' - it's been such a long time since we lost our beloved Tiggy-Tiger.
redruby - hope you manage to sort out the 'whistling window'. We have one in the bathroom, but at least I can close the door on it! Good luck with AO over the oven.
camelot1001 - enjoy your weekend with your son and family. Hopefully with weather will improve for you :j.
Scarlett Ribbons - I've also got the winter coats out of the spare wardrobe and put lightweight ones into it. Had to wear my 'drovers coat' last weekend - standing at the bus stop in the rain is no joke!
JackieO - Good Luck to your DGS with his interview today - and enjoy your History Group later.
LaineyT - sounds like you had a similar night to ours. Wheelie Bins are all over the place !
bellabella - hope your girls enjoy their visit to the 'doggy parlour' :j.
dumpling - sorry to hear that the 'Care Co-ordinator' isn't very good at 'communicating' with you - we had similar problems with my DGS1's Education Supervisor. Hope the 1 day a week at College works out well for Lee. My DGS1 is now completing his education/work experience through a Farm-based Horticulture/Animal Care/Educational facility which he loves :T.
Gers - enjoy your visit to Oban! I love it there and we always find time for a bus journey down when staying in Fort William. One of my friends, who lives in FW, goes there every week to play Bridge.
maddiemay - hope you get your nails sorted. Maybe you'll get a discount as you were disappointed with your last visit!
Nelski - mmm Chicken Kiev for tea sounds delicious . I'm going to have to learn to make my own. I love the 'proper ones' (made with a chicken breast fillet, as opposed to being made with 'chopped/shaped chicken'), but they never do them with Gluten Free Coating.
taff - 'making a will' is something that I REALLY should get around to doing - not that I've got anything to leave. I pre-paid my funeral in a lump sum around 6yrs ago and then took out a small policy to cover any 'incidentals' - so, at least, my kids won't have anything financial to worry about 'when the time comes' :j.
Very blustery day here today - the rain has eased off for a while just now, but it's expected back again at various points throughout the day.
Just waiting for a visit from my hairdresser this morning - only having a tidy-up, as it's 6wks since her last visit and I like it short 'n' tidy! It's OH's birthday today, but I can't see us going out anywhere in this weather - may leave it until next week when the weather is set to improve. A nice day out, pleasant walk and lunchtime carvery would be a lovely idea at this time of year.
Hope everybody has a good day - and thinking about all of you who are battling health problems and/or caring for other people.
God Bless - Ollie xx0 -
Dumpling, I'm shocked by the high-handedness of the care worker, surely Lee's happiness is the paramount thing. May I suggest you contact Education Otherwise who might be able to advise and support you.
Welcome Midgie.
What a terrible night, the wind was rocking the camper van like mad, I pitied the poor people in the tents on the site. It's calmed down a bit now.
We had another marathon walk yesterday, from Dover to Deal - it was about 12 miles taking into account the walks from the site to the station and vice-versa. Again it was very windy, we saw some young people standing on the edge of the cliffs which I wouldn't have done. Rest day today, although on our rest day on Wednesday we went to Margate and Broadstairs and walked about 8 miles. I don't want to do that today.0
