Deed of Trust info

Does anybody know how I can obtain official information about a Deed of Trust?
Lets say that I don't know which solicitor set it up. Is there a formal register or database that I check?

    You might be able to work out which solicitor acted based on copy documents you have kept?

    Is the Deed referred to in a property Title? If so, the Land Registry might have a record of the solicitor who registered it. Though in those circumstances the LR would likely have made a copy I suspect.

    Yes I have the documents, unfortunately there is no address or contact number. Only a company name 'Bennetts Solicitors'

    Yes, that it is. I am yet to contact the Land Registy. Is it a straight forward process?

    [FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]The Lang Reg do not register deeds of trust nor %age ownership, they only register the legal ownership, so they won't have a copy of the DOT but may have an address for whoever registered the title.[/FONT]

    Some context would help.

    Some trust deeds are a will some are for joint purchase or putting property into a trust.

    My brother is the executor, I am just doing some leg work for him. My Father has a joint ownership on the property where he lived with his partner. The property is sold STC. Our Father's partner has not exactly been forthcoming and is really hard to get in touch with. incidentally she changed both her telephone numbers a few weeks after our Father passed. Is it possible that she could complete on the sale without dispersing our Father's share to us?

    Yes

    All she needs is the death certificate to become the sole legal owner and can sell the place and walk away with the money.
