Hi hoping some kind person can help me with my issue. I bought a pair of Muck Boots online from Country Attire @ £110 in June 2018. My first and only wear of these boots was in September 2018. As soon as I began to walk the boots developed creasing to the ankles, heels and toe areas. I walked my dogs no more than a mile in the boots before I was home and the creasing just became worse.
I emailed CA and sent photos of the issue. CA contacted Muck Boots UK who state that the creasing is due to the fact I was wear trousers and thick socks which put pressure on the rubber. They state that there is no manufacturing issue with the boot therefore no liability on their behalf.
I did not have socks or trousers on as I walked the dogs in my work uniform skirt and tights. These boots are advertised as perfect for winter dog walking!!! No where does it state in the description that creasing may/will occur if worn with socks and trousers!
I was not asking for a refund but a replacement.
I have worn Hunters, Barbour and Muck Boot wellies for many years and never experienced creasing to this degree.
Do I have any rights?
Thank you

Yes. Raise a formal fault report with Country Attire and advise them that:
a) The response from Muck Boots does not constitute an inspection, as they've not actually seen the items, just photos.
b) The conclusion reached by MB is erroneous because you were not wearing the clothing that they specified, and nowhere is there any disclaimer regarding clothing attire having any impact on the boots.
c) Such items suitable for "winter dog walking" should be expected to endure harsh winter weather never mind autumnal weather!
d) Within 6 months from purchase it is for the retailer to prove that any fault is NOT inherent and has been caused by the consumer. (Consumer Rights Act 2015)
If CA don't provide an acceptable remedy (repair, replacement, full refund) then raise a claim with your card provider*.
* If you paid by CC then raise a Section 75 claim; if by DC then raise a chargeback claim.0 -
Can you share the pictures with us?
Did the boots do the job they were intended to do, ie, keep your feet dry and are they the correct size for you?0 -
Creasing usually happens when the boots are loose fitting so there is no support behind the creased area.0

Thank you everyone for taking the time to post.
I am not very good with the computer and struggled to understand how to post images.
I will write to CA using your useful information and see how it goes.
Thanks again
