  • We already considered bridging but it is not an option because if we complete on the house then the mortgage becomes invalid ( it is then considered a remortgage and we need to reapply)

    I have a similar problem though not property related.


    a few months ago I spent a night at a local casino. I gambled a huge amount of money which I did not have, and lost. At the time, I figured that if I just kept gambling long enough, then in time I would win and be able to pay back what I owed.


    The deadline to pay is now approaching but I've still not won back enough to pay back what I owe. What can I do?

    Im suprised the solicitor allowed exchnaged without a mortgage offer even if 6 months ahead. What a huge risk to take!

    We don't know that the solicitor didn't advise strongly against it and was overruled.

    Can't see any solicitor agreeing to it, even under pressure/force which leads me to two conclusions. One of which will just wind the OP up if indeed it is true, so I'm keeping schtum.


    The solicitor needs to re-think their career. Can't even imagine the lender would have been happy about them exchanging on it either which has maybe flagged it up as one to look at closely.


    OP have you been insuring it since exchange? :think:

    Eh? Solicitors advise their clients on the risks. It's the client's contract. From what we've been told, the OP was happy to accept that they had six months to get a mortgage offer organised. Clients routinely take a view on things.

    Given there isn't yet a mortgage offer there doesn't seem to be a lender involved. Why would the lender care about the timing of exchange anyway? They're not committed to anything until completion.
