You are paying less and you are getting a used/refurbished laptop. It's not the same. And none of its specs make it faster than a new one. Only the CPU is slightly faster, but it won't make any difference for browsing. Laptop is slightly heavier and battery lasts almost 2 hours less than the Asus.
Oh, just to let you know, pretty much ALL refurbished laptops costs less than brand-new ones, at any price range. But I don't think that people buying brand new laptops are all stupid.
Sorry, but a better CPU will make a difference. Your Vivobook suggestion weigh 2 kgs. The Acer 2.1kg. So you are making a point of it weighing 100 grams more??
That is sad.
In addition, personally I would always buy with SSD or fit with SSD. I was simply illustrating that your earlier assertions about refurbs are absolute nonsense.
The Argos laptop will be as new and it is simply better than the Vivobook. Better CPU and Graphics.
As to new versus refurb, you seem to have conveniently ignored the OP's budget; £150 to £225.
Your suggestion costs £260. So you were imploring the OP to break his budget in order to buy new, by posting scaremongering nonsense.
I know you cannot admit that you were wrong.0 -
When the Asus laptop breaks down it will be repaired or replaced, I won't have it years and years and won't have a graveyard of broken laptops gathering dust in a drawer.
At work we purchase and replace our Lenovo laptops every 3 years for approx £1000 per laptop and now have a massive stockpile of older, slow laptops in a cupboard.
It's not your choice but it works for me.
Work is different. Often the laptops are not old and slow, but that is another story.
As I stated, it's your money and your choice. if you had asked here before purchase, I would have recommended a different path. Your choice to take it or not.
But hopefully anyone reading my explanation will not keeping pouring money into a depreciating laptop.
Honestly, I have no idea as to why you posted about your laptop in the first place, since it had absolutely nothing to do with the topic.
The topic was second hand laptop between £150 and £225.
But since you decided to post about it, you cannot complain that someone has commented on it.0 -
I'm sure a decent refurbed laptop would be fine for surfing etc, I've just dug 2 old 2012 vintage Toshiba Satellite C850D laptops out from gathering dust, one needed a new screen, the other needed a keyboard, both now fixed and upgraded from 4GB to 8GB RAM, both are on Windows 7 and seem to be quicker when surfing the internet than the newer 2015 Toshiba Satellite I have with Windows 10 on it.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

I'm not complaining, thank you for your input, good luck to OP0

You are paying less and getting an 'as new' laptop with no signs of usage.
We know because many here have ordered and know what to expect.
So far, you haven't yet posted a suggestion within budget....even though you've made a lot of posts.0 -

I would have left them at 4GB and spent the money on a solid state drive.0 -

I had the memory cards FOC as they came from broken work laptops so why not use them? The only costs to me were £25 for a screen and £10 for the keyboard.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

Free of charge is good.
