    Gers -

You're in the right area with your thoughts.

Holiday will be fab, we both just need some r&r, work is busy for us both, although we're not complaining, nothing worse than not enough to do.

    Keep safe and well x

    To add -

Redruby - sorry to hear of your appalling experience, customer service seems to be going out of the window everywhere nowadays. The banks are the same, it's a regular occurrence in our bank to queue back to the door (outside it sometimes too) and wait 30 minutes plus to be served, whilst they have 1 cashier open but 2 cashier desks. I went in a few weeks ago and spent my entire lunch break queuing to be served, the supermachine that does everything was out of service and a member of staff was going along the queue but couldn't assist most people. I suggested that as the machine wasn't working in the interests of good customer service wouldn't it be better for him to have 2 cashiers - I was "told by smug man" our policy is only 1 cashier and we can't change it. Strange that I went in last week and there were 2 cashiers working .......? I know it's everywhere though.

    Keep safe and well x

    Good morning all,

We are up early this morning as the HT woke up hungry. Must be another growing phase. I need an emoji for "oh goodness, not again" :rotfl:

My bed came yesterday and it's lovely and comfortable. While I was having an indoor day I made cottage pies for the freezer and beef noodles for tea. I also baked mocha squares for the HT and I did jam making. A tub of blackberries from my friend's garden and some apples from next door produced six jars of blackberry and apple jam. I've just had some jam on my toast for breakfast and it's lovely. Six jars of jam for the price of a bag of sugar and some cooking....and people wonder why we do "old style".

Today I'm calling for my friend whose brand new cooker blew up on the day that it was installed (and still hasn't been replaced while AO and Beko argue over who is at fault). He's going to bring some bits with him and we'll do some cooking for his freezer as he and his brother are fed up of things on toast and takeaways.

The HT is struggling a bit at school. The timetable has a week A and a week B so two different schedules. Added to that he has 4 different teachers for one subject and at least 2 teachers for the others so he finds it hard to remember who he has to hand homework into and when. The pace has also been stepped up because GCSE's have started.... I spoke to his pupil progress leader last night. She's lovely and she is going to see him today and sort out how school can best help him. Fingers crossed that they can.

redruby I'm glad your back seems a little better.

Take care all of you :)

Had cramp again last night so broken sleep again...I'll sleep on the sofa tonight, don't want to keep waking OH up because he's working....
PLan for today, go to the new butchers and see if he had some skirt in [ I know I'm eating a lot of beef but it's because I can actually taste it] , get some mimce, make a chilli. Found a recipe yesterday for chilli mac and cheese, so it's got to be tried :)
It's clear up the porch time today with a brief excursion to the butchers and to the MILs for coffee, I can be more in charge of time spent so hopefully won't be so drained afterwards.

Rainy windy and dark so far, I might fire up the woodburner this afternoon for that 'it's winter, get cosy' feeling...

Have as good a day as possible all :)

    Morning everyone,

Well it’s a lot quieter here today and it looks like the rain is stopping now, we had nothing like the winds felt by our northern pals but the gusts were strong, one of the big beech trees the other side of our garden hedge lost a big branch and the drive to the stables was interesting. Dust cyclones and debris all over the road. Most surprisingly my drama queen of a horse was really laidback, worked very well and no sign of histrionics.
We have an empty fridge so need to go shopping this morning, at least the food planning is working! :D and then need to get out in the garden to clear up all the windfalls.

Have fun all our hardy shoppers, get well wishes to all poorlies and thoughts with those caring for loved ones.

Have a good day folks x

Good morning everyone, pleased to read from many of you that the storm is passing and that you are safe.

Tired before I start today, gym with my PT this morning, then dash home to freshen up then drive to meet some of OH's family for lunch, not a pub that we have been to before, but we did do a recce when in that direction earlier in the week.

Holly thank you for starting us off, have a good day out.
Silveroldie I hope that the visiting is better than expected.
Cranky sounds like the school are on the ball, hope the HT gets it all sorted out.
    NMLC have a great holiday.
RR good luck with AO, I will watch their ads with a great deal of scepticism now.
taff rotten having cramp, you have my sympathy.
Scarletribbons envious of your visit to Alnick, when we visited the NE were unable to go because we had dear dog with us:(

Apologies to those I have missed out, OH is making hurry up faces at me......

  • Bellabella I think I would rather eat my own liver than shop at Bluewater after October,I live about 25 minutes from there and I once made the mistake of going on a Saturday to JL there ,never again. The noise was horrendous and far too many people around for my liking ,although JL does have a nice cafe :) especially when I have my freebie coffee and cake voucher :)I wear a hearing aid and loud echoing noises just means a whistling feedback in my ear :) and children (whom by the way I love ) seem to run around screaming like banshees in the shopping centre there. If I do venture there I try to go first thing in the morning mid-week when its a bit quieter. Lakeside is even worse and I guess I go there about once a year if that .Nowadays I find that with my DGC growing up they are quite happy to have some cash in an envelope along with a few small bits to unwrap on Christmas morning The boys especially like smellies or a tee shirt or two.My eldest DD goes to NYC twice a year to visit my dgs and she loves shopping and will often get bits for me for presents for the grandchildren as she knows what sort of things they like This year I have a great granddaughter to buy for and I already know what she's getting as my dgd has made a small list for her Mum and I to choose from as she will only be 10 months old its helpful as I have no idea what she's already got and her Mum likes her to have things that are easy to play with and not plasticy rubbish so she is getting a small wind up train that DGD think she will enjoy .DGD has decided that Lego is banned :) as she hates anything made of plastic in her house (she is very 'green' )

Well this morning looked a bit grey and doubtful weatherwise but its brightened up and the sun is out and although a bit breezy its quite warm.

I am out tonight with eldest Dd to a 'Meet the author' at Rochester Library I have been to a few of these arranged by our Medway Library system and they are quite interesting, you get free tea and biscuits as well :):)

Hope everyone has a good day ,where is the time rushing away to, we are two thirds through the month already !!

Have a good day chums and <<hugs>> to those who need them

    JackieO xx
  • Good Morning everybody - quick post from me this morning.

I've had a quick read of everybody's posts this morning and can see that 'Storm Helene' has affected some of us worse than others. Just some strong, but warm, winds here for yesterday. Died down in the evening, but were getting up again as I went to bed. All calm here at the moment, but heavy rain and more winds threatened for later this afternoon :(.

Sending ((((Healing thoughts)))) and prayers for all who are unwell right now.

Good luck in your 'new lives' for all who have changed things in their lives/lifestyles.

My plans for today involve going for my final Physio Session - I'll be so happy to have this disruption to my routine out of the way :j. Also another day with DGS1 - he's coming to meet me at the hospital and we'll go for lunch in the Hospital Cafeteria - reasonably priced meal on the 5th floor of the building with lovely views out towards Runcorn :j.

Also need to collect a 'bloods form' and regular medication from my GP's Surgery.

Have a good day, everybody and keep safe in you have to go out in any bad weather :D.
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

The wind was horrendous yesterday, The window cills are covered in fine dust that has blown in through the vents in the top of the windows. The plant house lost its cover, so another new one next year.....I spent quite a bit of time chasing after stuff that was blowing around.

Took OH into the dentist with his plate, he came out minus another tooth, thankfully its been stitched so not so painful, although he was a pita when we got home.

Our lovely carers finish tomorrow morning, the new ones start on Monday. OH thinks he will be able to cope for himself in another month, we will see........

New mattress topper came yesterday, Its 'breathing' just now, its feather and had been very compressed, decided to leave it for 24 hours to plump up.

We did not have the beef stew last night so will have it tonight, apple crumble left for dessert.
  • Morning all
I went to bed early last night as I'm back on the anti inflams for my wrist and was feeling a bit yuck. Dropped off to sleep and later was woken by the phone, had a bit of a panic as I can't see the number without my glasses, but it turned out to be a wrong number. That was fine, but the woman couldn't seem to understand that I wasn't "Heather". She kept asking me " are you sure ? .... I dialled her number ". I did finally go back off to sleep but then I didn't wake till 10 am, I could be an extra in the Walking dead this morning :rotfl:
So on to today, it's horrible outside, it's bucketing down and freezing cold, but on the positive side, the wind has dropped.
I have emptied the DW, then put in the breakfast dishes and wiped down the kitchen tops. I am steeling myself before attempting to sort the office. I think I shall go through the paperwork first, then go from there. If I don't make it on here by Monday, I've either joined the navy ( oooooooo men in uniform :D ) or I'm trapped under a stack of paper :(. Either way please send out the Jack Russel with a flask of tea around his neck :rotfl::rotfl:.
Tea tonight will be something comforting , possibly a stew or corned beef hash as it feels more like winter than autumn.
Holly hope you get your Christmas shopping done. I have no idea what to get for people this year, but I expect the DGC will give me a list, a loooooong one :rotfl:
Csarina I want some apple crumble now too, so if there's any spare please send it my way. I already have the custard waiting :D
JackieO I also hate shopping when places are full/busy. I get quite agitated by the hustle and bustle.
-taff meant to ask if you're another Welshie ( going by your name there )
Cranky I hope things can get sorted for the HT. My DGS ( 9 ) told me his new teacher ( a man this time ) is boring and wants him to do work all the time. Had to put him straight on that :rotfl:
Redruby  to AO, hope you get a call back today.
Nelski now behave with the Next VIP slot. Don't want to be sending you a food parcel cos you've spent all your cash  :rotfl::rotfl:
SilverOldie good luck with Mum today.
TA I hope Mr TA has a comfortable day, I am thinking of you both.

It's no good sitting here chatting to you lot, I will start in a minute, promise :D. Best have another coffee first though, just for medicinal purposes you understand :rotfl:
Take care all, sending much love and positive vibes to everyone.
    nan xx
