Jet 2 Seating allocation with child

I just returned from a Jet2 holiday today. Booked last minute so there were issues with booking seats and had to get them allocated at the airport.

At the check in desk we were told that they hold back a few seats from online check in in case of issues like the op's.

In the end, on the journey out we were allocated extra leg room seats (at the wing exits, one behind the other. On the way back we were given extra legroom seats again (no charge for either) right at the front of the plane and one in 1C and on in 2F ( there was no 1D,E or F).

So Jet 2 appear to be pretty sensible about this sort of situation.

Yes same happened to us on Thomson when we checked in late - got extra legroom seats free!
