I randomly received a text from Gladstones, of which I have never heard of them before, nor had correspondence from them (ever).
The text reads as follows:
Due: £160.00
You have not responded to our Pre-Action Letter. Please visit !!!!!!/gsl-pay or call 01565 755088 to avoid court action. Quote Ref: xxxxx-xxxxx
Is this a scam? What should I do? Any advice??

Of course it's a phishing (or rather smishing) scam. Just ignore and block the number.0

Have they previously written to you about a parking charge notice?0
-
gladstones are solicitors , and used by private parking companies
have you received a ticket in the past , have you moved house?0 -
mrrobinson88, have you learnt anything on this thread that you didn't get from the Parking Board?0

Thanks for your replies.
I haven’t had any written communication in the past, nor have I received a ticket either. This is first contact, which I thought was strange.
Also, as you can see, there are no references to my name or any other details in the text, apart from them saying £160 is due.0 -

How long have you been at your current address and how long have you had that phone number? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I’ve lived at my current address for almost 2 years and I’ve had my number for about 10 years0

Is your V5 up to date with the correct address including the postcode? There may be a typo on it that you haven't spotted.0
-
I’ve checked my V5 and it is correct. It must be a scam. Who would request payment out of the blue, without giving any details of what it’s for...0

01565 755088 is indeed the number for gladstones, you could call it and follow up that reference number- ask them what name it is associated with.
If it is legit, how come they can match a mobile phone number to you, but not your address?I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
