I am interested in the tip to move my broadband from BT to Plusnet but if I do can BT cancel my bt.com e mail address ( it would be a load of hassle changing it with everybody) or because Plusnet is owned by BT would this not matter? Do I have a right to keep the address?

BT will sell you at I believe the cost of £7.50 per month, the right to continue to use your BT email address.
That is your right, to rent it from BT at the cost that they decide.0 -
The only way of being sure of keeping an email address is to buy your own domain (which will cost about a tenner for two years).
(Actually not completely sure -- I'm losing my .eu addresses thanks to the EU likely to remove the right of UK residents to hold one)A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Might be a good time to change email address.
I think you have 30 days after changing to use it for free before you get charged.
As mentioned you could get a personalised domain name and have email addresses for all the family (e.g. irish@redandwhite.co.uk, english@redandwhite.co.uk).
The money saving option would be to create a generic email address from someone like google (gmail) or microsoft (hotmail / outlook).0 -

Only if we're going to ban EU residents having .uk addresses. Which we don't.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

It will be perhaps a couple of hour's work to notify your contacts (group bcc) and change your online accounts. Not really that much hassle.
BT rarely switch off your email address immediately, it could remain live for months-but there is no guarantee of that.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
