Shouldn't the headline read 'millions can't be bothered to check'.

I'm no fan of the mobile companies but people do need to take some responsibility. Having said that, I think its a good idea to be alerted by text/email that the contract is coming to an end which Ofcom will bring in.

When Of[wat|gem|com] get involved, that usually means the death knell for all the good deals for those who can be bothered to shop around and diarise the end of a fix or contract. I'm tired of subsidising the lazy and !!!!less... grumble grumble

NB. MSE censored "Eff Ee See Kay"? Seriously?

some customers could pay up to £38/mth extra once their contract comes to an end

UP TO? Really? Some contracts get close to £100 and my common sense says that in this case they pay extra much more than £38.

And surprise-surprise... I seem to be right as BBC quote the same CAB more accurately:
    • £38 average extra monthly cost of contracts with handsets like the Galaxy S8 or the iPhone 8

We are born naked, wet and hungry...Then things get worse. :(

.withdrawal, NOT withdrawel ..bear with me, NOT bare with me
.definitely, NOT definately ......separate, NOT seperate
    should have, NOT should of
    .....guaranteed, NOT guarenteed
  • I know we all moan about the greedy companies taking advantage, but if everyone were really savvy with their finances, we would all suffer much higher costs on just about everything.

Its a moral minefield, the thick/lazy really do subsidise the savvy in this world.

The report is timely because there is an Ofcom consultation on end of minimum term notifications currently in progress. The closing date for responses is only a week or two away.
