HSBC Bank Account £200 Bonus

If you're switching via the Current Account Switching Service (necessary for the incentive) then the receiving bank is responsible for any such issues arising from the switch, so Halifax should have picked up the tab for any costs relating to unpaid DDs, etc, and HSBC would be on the hook this time round.Just hope everything goes successfully with the transfer unlike last time.
Last time i went from Yorkshire Bank to Halifax and they transferred everything except my wage but it also didnt go in the Yorkshire Bank because the account was closed. Ended up with lots of penalty fines for failure of paying which i then had to contact them all and explain which they then wiped off my credit rating.0 -
I have just been turned down for a second time and will challenge it. Although I cant meet the 1750 pounds per month by wages. I can Manage about 1500 pounds.I have substantial other capital in savings to boost it. They don't appear interested in what other capital you have as it isn't asked for on the application.0

I understand your annoyance, but on what grounds are you going to challenge their decision?
HSBC, like every other bank, can choose who they want as customers, and who they don't want (subject to discrimination legislation of course)0 -

On the basis I can easily pay in 1750 a month and Why they are not interested in what other capital you have to meet that target.0 -

You are assuming you were turned down on your salary - that may not be the only factor.0 -

It's interesting. Its the only time I have been turned down for a bank account and now happened twice (same account). have successfully applied for many others. All others asked about other capital I currently hold. This account for some reason doesn't.0 -
Hi, I was trying to start a new thread, but couldn't see how to. For all of these bonuses with the bank account switches, do I have to permit the new bank to close the account I'm switching from? Or is it possible to do the switch so that my salary is paid to the new account, and the direct debits move, but my old account remains open?
Thanks!0 -
I'm not aware of any switching incentives that aren't conditional on using the Current Account Switching Service, and this does unavoidably entail the closure of the old account.
If you're desperately keen to keep an old account open, you can open a second account with your existing bank and (after ensuring it's fully prepared to qualify for switching, with any required DDs, etc) switch that instead.
And there is a 'new thread' button on each page at board level (i.e. not when within a thread)....0 -
Made a successful application on 13/09/18 including agreeing to the seven day switch service.
Ten days later and I've yet to receive anything from HSBC, so much for a seven day switch service!0 -

You've not made a successful application to HSBC in a day.0
