You may need to insure and tax it first to get it released and then pay all the bills the DVLA send you. One for having it on the road and then....

With no MOT? More problems.

I know it differs for driving licences.

I think you can drive a SORN'd car on the road only when going to and from a pre-booked MOT, if that's what you're asking.
