:hello: Good Morning, Oldstylers -
Thank you for starting the thread, Hollyharvey - great idea to do some batchcooking in advance of going in hospital. Far easier to sort out good, wholesome, healing foodstuffs now so you don't have to think about it too much when you get home.
Carpet shampooing - you're definitely a busy-bee, AoD! That was one of the jobs that I was expected to tackle when I worked night-shift in a Residential Care Home - far easier to get it dry when nobody was wandering around during the day.
Hope your training course is interesting, Nelski!
Savoury Mince & Dumplings sounds , dumpling - one of my favourite meals. Going to have to have a go at GF Dumplings
!
Good to see that you're not going to allow 'trolls from other threads' to stop you from posting on here, Bellabella - hope you enjoy your day out and the visit to The Astoria!
Camelot1001 - We're forecast for some 'stormy weather' for a few hours later today - be interesting to see if it actually happens as 'threatened'. It's also been 'threatened' for a couple of hours on Friday and again on Sunday .................... like 'one day on/one day off' till next week :undecided:. Have you ever tried one of those 'rubber brooms' for tackling the 'furry tumbleweed' - those used to work when we had a fluffy dog
.
ScarlettRibbons - Hope today is good enough for you to get to Alnwick. I've ever been, but my sister has and she said is fabulous up there - though I can imagine it would be horrendous on a stormy day .
Enjoy your holiday, nmlc and well done on your 'half stone' :j.
Know what you mean about 'hibernating', Ger - it's exactly how I feel once we get to this time of year.
Hope you manage to get your f/f sorted out, redruby - it's horrible when we start to 'waste food' due to them not working properly .
Sending ((((Healing Hugs)))) and prayers for all who need - or want - them.
My plans for today involve going to supervise DGS1 - but DD has just informed that she's got no coffee in the house  - DGS1 AND NO COFEE is a definite no-no!!!!! I'll call at Aldi to get her some before going to the house. May treat myself to some of their rather delicious Pate while I'm there :j.
After that I've got a meeting at our local Housing Office (5.00-7.00) - I'm part of a Tenants' Involvement Group that works with Housing Management ............... best of all is the 'incentive' of a £25 Gift Voucher for attending the meeting :T.
I think it'll be Bacon Butties for evening meal, as I won't get back home until around 7.30pm.0 -
Morning al!
Didn;t go in the attic, had a visitor I forgot was coming, after they left I was so drained I slept for three hours by which time OH was home...Then OH had three friends round in the evning so it was all a bit disjointed...
Tried to sew up the back of the skirt [a nightmare pattern matching excerise] sewing machine did not want to play, the bobbin and tension have gone completely skewiff, and I couldn't fix it so off it goes to the repair shop. Luckily I have another one exactly the same to try with later on [ bought on ebay. it's a 1975 machine so was very cheap] Will drop off on the way to the hospital this morning.
Sewing lesson later on...wondering when my get up and go is going to come back...All I seem to do is eat, sleep and read this forum
Have a good day if you can to allNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Holly
Gentle hugs to all who want/ need them
Spent my £5 Argos voucher on a nice candle for DiL. We usually give DS and DiL money for Christmas but also like to give them a couple of small presents each to open. In past years we have been invited to visit them on Christmas eve but have decided not to go this year, if we are asked, after reading last years comment on f*cebook about us.
Sorry if it too early to mention Christmas
Not sure what we are doing today, trying to go out as often as we can whilst the weather is good.
Tomorrow will visit mother.
Hope you all have a good dayIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning everyone,
We had a lovely day at the seaside thanks Holly it was lovely and warm, so much so that I took my shoes & socks off to have a paddleWe saw several seals again, they come so close to the beach and stare at you, especially if you have a dog with you. Talking of which the only downside was little Tilly was sick, several times, on the way home so must have picked up something to upset her tum
she’s ok this morning, just a bit sorry for herself.
Nothing so exciting today, WM is chugging away doing it’s thing, I have a few hours of work to get on with this morning and then over to see Lu this afternoon.
I haven’t been to Alnwick for years SR but loved the gardens there, especially the locked poison garden.
Hope the storm isn’t too bad Gers
Thoughts are with all poorlies or those caring for loved ones, have a good day folks x0 -
Good morning all,
It's today that is my new bed day and I'm excited. Small things huh? As I have to be in this afternoon I've decided that today will be a stay home and batch cook day. I have beef strips, stock and spices in the slow cooker which will eventually be beef with noodles (SW friendly) and I will be making quorn cottage pie with root veg mash to portion up for the freezer. The HT doesn't like real mince so we tend to use quorn more. I'm hoping to do a bit more knitting too.
bellabella don't let the eejits get you down. On the subject of guide dogs, my friend is a guide dog puppy walker and she has a fully trained guide dog that stays when his owner goes on holiday. He is lovely - a very gentle, well behaved giant of a retriever. I hope Kass's person is OK.
redruby AO....well....my friend took delivery of a new cooker 3 weeks ago and it was wired in by AO personnel. When it was switched on the back blew off. AO are currently arguing the toss with Beko about who is at fault and my friend still does not have a working cooker. 'Nuff said....
Dumpling I gained 3.5 lbs at my latest weigh in after 3 weeks away from class (two planned and one unplanned but unavoidable) so I shall also be making an effort this week. Good luck with your healthy eating - it's hard sometimes and even harder when you're tired.
Keep on keeping on and take care all of you0 -
I've just read two and a half days of posts so if I forget anyone it's not on purpose.
TA, I'm sorry to hear about your friend.
Cranky, congratulations to your niece. Laura is still being treated but has now found out that if she needs IVF Guys can't do it because they aren't funded by her HA, although they are for her current treatment. She now has to go back to the GP for referral to Barts, she's heard it's about a 9 month waiting list which would fit in well with her current treatment if that doesn't work.
Holly, I'm glad you are being positive, also taff, poppy and scarlet ribbons (I hope that was you) undergoing treatment, I'm full of admiration.
We walked to Deal from the site in Ramsgate yesterday and did 13 miles, the furthest I have walked for years. I'm a bit sore today but not too bad. The worst thing was the wind and the section towards Sandwich where the coast path has been diverted to the main Dover road. I thought my face was being sandblasted by the dust. The first thing I did when we got back was hop in the shower.0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Holly and hugs to all those in need.
Plans for today include making potassium broth!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
cloudy but mild down here in our little corner of Kent where Snoozer is currently visiting! Think of it as a free dermal abrasion Snoozer?
lots of little jobs to do today, need to do freezer rummage and use up some odd bits and restock before we go away at end of October. I want to have some ready meals for our return in December. I think I’ll do some batch cooking next month.Currently filling freezer with cake as I’m running a coffee morning for Macmillan next week.
keep warm and safe in some of this weather predicted for some of us.
Thinking of those of us experiencing rough times.Carolbee0 -
Hi everyone, wishing all the best day possible.
Quite a few things ticked off my to do list, including e-mailing a friend. One of the worst things for me while going through the extended period of fatique was the state of inertia that I drifted into, including the inability to write/message of phone people who are important to me, I was able to manage the admin type stuff reasonably well though. I am gradually swallowing a few of those frogs now that I am experiencing some recovery.
I really am not liking that it is getting dark so early, I will hunt out the SAD lamp later and am considering buying one of those Dawn/Dusk clocks, does anyone have any experience of them please?
Knit N Natter today, heavy rain forecast about the time it starts, but I guess that I will not melt:rotfl:
Keep safe everyone:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Morning all from Mehefinland
Hugs and spoons to those in need
Just back from a trip to our local agricultural merchant. Horse food and shavings. Gosh they do seem to have gone up in price lately. Since Countrywide went there isn't anywhere else reasonably local to go to so will just have to swallow hard.
Popped into w*rose whilst in town but nothing took my fancy in the yellow stickered stuff - not particularly good reductions either!
Thought I would call in the library for a better selection of poetry but they didn't open until 10 so aborted that for another day.
All in all a pretty mundane mrning so far.
Bye for now
Mehefin
Weather seems to be improving currently although the girls still have the wind up their tails.0
