  • Hi I started DMP last month (the first payment should have come out today) all my lenders have been sent the letter with the new payments im making, today I have had a letter from what was my bank with a termination notice and telling me that I need to pay the bill in full, and that it will be moved on to a credit reference agency. I'm just making sure that it's the standard thing they send out until their systems are updated (they also sent me a message after someone tried taking money out last week, not mentioning the normal if you don't put x amount in by 3pm we will charge you)?

  • Quick question - have been on a SM DMP for 5 months now, £1 token payments. One of my debts, a Natwest personal loan of around £12k, has moved to Westcot, was told to just keep the standing order payments as is, fine fine.
I’ve just been on Noddle for my weekly check - last time it was showing this debt as defaulted (correct) but now it’s showing as settled with a balance of £0 and is in the closed accounts section, not really sure what to make of this?

    Hi everyone, happy new year.

I wrote a post on here last night desperate for some advice about our DMP but it seems to have disappeared? Can anyone see it? Can anyone help? Thanks

One of the admins has moved your original post to the general DFW page and folks can find it by clicking on 'posts' under your username (as can you). It was moved because although you are in a DMP, you are asking a slightly more broader question about your circumstances and so will likely get a better response in the general section :)

Hi All HNY, Well have updated my signature and am now below the £1K mark!!! Great way to start the year.

For those that are just starting the journey with all the panic, worry, embarrassment etc this page is great for support/advice etc whether your a lurker or an active poster. I started on here as lurker, then starting up DMP was pretty active, as things settled down became a popper inner and in last year or so more active again.

At first seemed to be taking forever to move on but when interests rates were frozen/defaults raised things started to go down pretty quickly and cant believe im nearing the end.

Good luck to all, if unsure of anything ask on here, rarely do you get a judgement on how you have come to your situation and in the rare occurrence that happens, someone is always here to offer support and reinforce the purpose of the page. We all found ourselves here for a similar reason .... Debt. Be proud you are facing it it will honestly be the hardest part of the journey.

Click on your username, that brings up a list of options.

Click 3rd option down, “find all posts”.

Your post was moved to the general forum as it was more appropriate.

    You have done amazing!!

Can I join this thread. I have already posted on the board about beginning my DMP journey.

Its been daunting, especially when I saw the length of the DMP and the end date but then I sat and thought, hang on, I applied for another consolidation loan for around the same length of time and was declined (LBM) and then I did some sums and added up just paying the minimum payments on one card was going to take me 20+ years to clear, just that one card alone!!

I'm pleased, I have an end date which I can bring forward, I know I can. Yes my "excellent" credit score/rating is now shot but I think that's a good thing as easy access to credit has done nothing for me except bring debt since I was in my early and give me a exceedingly selfish feeling and outlook of entitlement!

I'm now 38, married with 2 kids and about to become a "proper" grown up, I'm learning to budget and live within our means and bye bye the line of thinking of well I want it, whack it on a card, got it!

I so agree with what you've said and the last bit of your post (copied here) really struck a chord with me. Incidentally, I didn't become a 'proper' grown up where money's concerned until I was in my late 60s:o so it's never too late to start.

    Good luck
