Hi Othello22 yes any bank linked as First Direct are with HSBC then would be an issue with them. Therefore advised not to go with any linked. But some good ones out there for basic accounts. Sure someone will be along to advise as i'm with FD but i moved away from BOS who were linked to Lloyds and Hfx .

I moved to Nationwide (from Lloyds) and can highly recommend them:T. Quite a lot of posters on here bank with Nationwide
  • A warm welcome to all the new posters especially those just starting out on their DMP journeys. Good luck, all:beer:

Just a quick query from me. Does anyone know if Link Financial Outsourcing are poor at communicating? I know people have mentioned that DMCs that they've been dealing with have been terrible at responding to letters and emails and I wondered if Link are one of those.

I emailed them some information last Friday and haven't had any sort of response yet, not even an acknowledgement that they got it. I said I'd be happy to receive a reply by email.

Also wrote to them, posted 1st class on Saturday and again zilch.

Maybe I'm expecting miracles but I'd hoped for something via one method or another by now. I need to learn to be more patient:o

Thanks, think I might go with them to.
  • Hi all just wondering if anyone has had any experience in dealing with Tesco Bank. I am finding them very hard to deal with. They have really annoyed me today as they have sent me out a letter which clearly has collections shown through the letter envelope and you can obviously tell it is from tesco. Surely this is against privacy rules? Especially when I know the postman fairly well. I know this may seem like small thing to most people but it has really annoyed me. I would post a picture of the envelope on here but I am not sure how to do it.
  • Hi all
i just thought i would update you all on my progress. So... i recently wrote looking for advice on my 7 year old DMP and how to make final offers to my creditors. Everyone was really helpful and pointed me in the direction of a few websites that i could download templates to use. i did this and also took the advice to put together a table showing the creditors all my debts, the outstanding balances and how much they would each receive based on pro-rata calculations. i have today heard back my first creditor, Cabot financial, who have accepted my offer (which was approximately 30% of the outstanding balance). i'm so happy about this as it was the biggest debt i had and am hoping that my other creditors will get back to me with the same news.

Furthermore, i logged on to check my credit report and was gobsmacked to see that all debts have now disappeared from my account and for the first time in nearly 8 years i have an amazing credit score!! i feel like the black cloud that is debt has finally released its hold from me.

i can't thank people enough for all you advice and guidance and would strongly recommend that people manage their debts themselves, and negotiate with their creditors themselves (my DMP wanted 20% of savings made as payment!!)

I've come to the conclusion that i'm probably going to have to find a new bank account, and was looking at First Direct.

Not initially realising that they are a subsidiary of HSBC. Would it be an issue if I opened my new current account with them or would it be advisable not to?

    Thanks for any help

Never bank where you have debts, the banks have the right of "set off", which means they can raid any other account held in your name, within the same banking group.

Find one not associated with HSBC.

    Question.
I made a couple of SAR requests recently and received feedback. What is your SAR data really supposed to consist of?
I would expect CCA and applications and how they credit checked or decided on how they accepted your application?
Am I wrong or expecting too much?

If my experiences with them are anything to go by, you'll be waiting a lot longer for them to respond, if they ever do! They are absolutely dreadful in terms of their communications. It took them the longest to respond to my CCA requests, which they never acknowledged receipt of. They also never reply to letters sent, but their system continues to churn out standard ' contact us to make payment blah. blah' missives on a routine basis. They also keep calling my husbands mobile (leaving a computerised, please call us message) when they've been told numerous times to remove his number from their records. They are a complete and utter shambles and totally inept.

Hi all. Just an update on my self managed dept . I took the advice from here and decided to do it myself. Using The NEDCAB website and templates. We've got 10 creditors . I've sent the payment offer letters at the beginning of November and so far 7 have accepted. And issued default notices with each. After reading about these. That seems to be a good thing.
The 3 that haven't replied. I sent them another letter stating the same as the first just incase they didn't receive it originally. One of the creditors I'm wait in for is NRAM. Bit worried about that one. This is an unsecured loan. I read somewhere that they might uncrease the loan term to match the payments i can offer. But hopefully they will follow suit.
Only one creditor wrote back and asked if I'm self managing or if NEDCAB are dealing with it.
Just wanted to say thankyou so much for your advice on this. I'm hoping I can report back that they've all accepted within a couple of weeks. But so far 7/10 is great.
Thanks again people for your great advice .
    :-)

Thanks (I think;)) for that, Suseka:T.

    I won't be holding my breath then:eek:

EDIT: Postman's just driven past with zilch for me:mad:. It will be a long wait until late Monday afternoon when he comes again:(
