Hi. I am new to the Forum so I hope this is the right place to post. I’ve searched but can’t find what I’m after so wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with Consolidation Express for a DMP? I spoke to them on Friday and they were very helpful. However, I want to do my homework before moving forward with them and would like to hear from anyone who’s had dealings with them?

    Thank you.

OMG NO, Never, ever use a fee charging DMC for anything.
If you are concidering debt management, and feel you need help with it, then contact any of the free advice services in my signiture.
DMP`s are free, unless you choose a debt management company, who will charge you 35% plus an upfront fee, just for the privialage of writing a few letters.
I would recomend stepchange as a starting point for you, or pleae feel free to ask whatever you want on here.
Never pay for a debt management plan.

No....no.....no... please do not hand over your hard earned money to a debt management company such as this, who charge fees for the privilege.  As sourcrates has said, you can get plenty of free advice and support from any of the debt charities and then all of your money will go towards clearing your debts.  Don't be swayed by their empty promises or taken in by their sales pitch.

Seeing as you have already found this thread, you really ought to read back on the posts and see for yourself just how easy it is to either self-manage, or go with one of the debt charities.  Lots of experience to be had here.
  • Hello everyone, long time lurker first time poster.

I have recently entered into a DMP which is due to make its first payment this week. I cancelled all my DDs to creditors as per the instructions I received from my DMP provider - SC in this case. Last week I received a bunch of letters from my different creditors and some from SC - I found out that one creditor was putting me on termination notice (Barclaycard), one onto the recoveries team (MBNA) and that some of my other creditors had rejected SCs offer based on what I could afford. As far as I understand it from reading on this forum and others is that I should not cave in to the demands from creditors to make extra payments; that I should just let the "demand" letters/e-mails not bother me and continue to make my DMP payments. I must admit it feels very out-of-sorts to be doing this, and makes me feel like I'm doing the "wrong" thing by not caving into the creditors letters etc. I just wanted to share my initial feelings/anxieties about starting this journey!

Hi, just wanted to say you’re not alone here! After the wonderful advice on here I also started my DMP with SC in September. I was in a situation where I was robbing Peter to pay Paul so actually was up to date with all creditors when I entered it. It was a completely unsustainable way to live though. Those first few months were awful. I dreaded every postman coming to the door with more letters and hated reading them. I rang SC a few times and keep this thread pinned for moral support when I have a wobble. I absolutely know I’ve done the right thing, but it is a bit scary isn’t it! With regards to the letters, I just made sure with SC that they had all of the information correct. I had a couple rejected because stupidly I hadn’t changed my name on them after getting married. It just took a simple call to the creditor to update my details with my marriage certificate. Anything else just ignore as they are standard letters they most likely have to send.  I have to just keep reminding myself to let things take their course now. I’m in a situation where in a couple of years I will be able to pay £450/500 more a month off my plan when my student loan and the max amount of childcare fees stop being taken from my wages. Until then I’m going to stop focusing on the length of my current DMP (20 odd years) and remind myself in reality it won’t be that long. Another thing I wish I had found this DMP specific thread earlier and not just the general debt advice one, as now I’ve learnt i should have stopped paying long before entering the DMP to trigger defaults. Sadly i didn’t do that so I’m now trying to work out who has and hasn’t. Something you may want to do too if you were up to date with payments before.
good luck - it was the best thing I ever did! X

All perfectly normal for DMP land, creditors can wince and moan all they like, it dosen`t matter, SC keeps making the payments, if said creditor is not happy, they simply sell the debt on to some other company, you are informed of this in writing, you then pass that info on to SC they pay the new owner, yes there will be letters saying you haven`t paid, crossing in the mail, threatening all kinds of world ending catastrophies, just stay calm, and keep perspective, its all par for the course.
Letters about defaults, these are good, as that freezes your balance, stops interest being added, and gives you a clear timeline to when the default will be gone, ideally all your debts will end up this way, sometimes letters can be scary looking, most have to be sent by law, its a statutory requirement, thats all, anything you don`t understand, ask on here, or search for the answers, i think by now most eventualities have been covered in this thread.

  • So I’ve decided to set my DMP up with SC (but only defaulted debts). I’ve got a really admin-heavy job and it’s quite stressful. So to make my life easier I’m letting them manage the DMP until I feel more able to handle it myself. I know it’s simple to do but I get obsessed with it so it’s easier to offload it to SC for now to start making dents in the debts.
One rather annoying catalogue told me they’d written off the debt (I have this in writing), only for Lowell to write to me saying they bought the debt. If it comes to it should I take this to FOS? Surely they can’t confirm it’s written off and then sell it on and expect me to pay it?

Many do use an intermediary, such as SC, to get things up and running and then will take control later on in the process - so given that you have a busy job, it's probably best you do just that.  As for Lowell - write with a copy of whatever the catalogue sent you and tell them that as far as you are concerned the debt was written off, so you will not be entering into any form of payment plan.  See what happens next and then decide whether to complain, but I would do that with the catalogue company direct.
  • I have just received this from PayPlan. I have messaged them the new account details for Ja Ja Finance a few weeks ago and been in touch with them by phone a few times.  Anyone else had a problem like this before? Seems like i am hitting my head against a brick wall. Ja Ja took over from Bank Of Ireland who i have been paying since the start of my DMP in Sept 2019 with no problems.

Letting you know about an issue with payment(s) to one of your creditors

We're getting in touch as we have found an issue with an account included in your Debt Management Plan (DMP) as follows:

    Creditor: Jaja Finance
    Reference:

We have been unable to distribute your payment to this creditor. This may be because of incorrect payment details, an incorrect reference number, or because the debt has been passed to a debt collection agency.

    What happens next?

We will be contacting this creditor as soon as possible to try to resolve the issue, and resume payments to them. During this process, we may also need your assistance in contacting the creditor.

What do I need to do?

Have you received any letters or emails from this creditor recently, confirming account references and/or payment details, or telling you that your debt has been passed to a debt collection agency? If so, please call us urgently on the above number, as this may help us to resolve the issue and get your DMP back on track more quickly.

Please note: As this creditor has not received their expected payment(s), they may now choose to contact you and may also take action against you, which could include action through the county court. So please do contact us as soon as possible if you can provide any clarification in this matter.

    Yours sincerely,

    Gisela Pinto

If its proving to be a problem , just let the debt default, they will then most likley sell it on, and the new owner will be much easier to deal with, ideally all debts should default before entering debt management.

Hello!! Longtime no post. All going well until an unenforceable debt sold on started hassling so wrote and asked for CCA paying £1 fee. No CCA several months later but statement turned up showing £1 applied to the account which now means I made a payment several yrs later to this unenforceable acc - do I write and ask them to remove it from the account or write and ask them to refund it as haven’t received my CCA or ignore it? TIA
