I have 2 accounts with them. I received a statement from them today which shows they have begun charging interest again. This means next months minimum payment due is less than the payment they will receive via Stepchange. This has happened before and I rang them they then stopped interest again. This time they say they can't do that. I think it's maybe time to go self managed and make them wait for 6 months or so before I start paying the anything. If I do this is there likely to be a default issued? They have also told me a default was issued in May when it wasn't - I have had no pre default letters and there is no default on my credit report.
IF it were me I'd be going SM and would stop paying them - you can make up all sorts of reasons why... job loss, reduced income, extraordinary expenses (boiler breakdown, car maintenance etc. etc.). Tell them you will recommence payments at some point, do not say when, and complain that the addition of interest and charges have exacerbated the situation. Start messing them around, as much as it appears they are doing to you.2 -
Hi I am in the same situation with MBNA, next moth they have said they will start charging interest again I haven't dealt with it yet, I have only been on DMP since June the payment I make them now is more that the minimum payment without interest but is less that the payment and interest so hopefully they will see that

Hi
Does anyone have any experience with Payp@l credit on DMP? Stepchange has to pay them by cheque, the first month the cheque took a month to clear, since then they have had 2 cheques that they are yet to cash but they keep asking for payment. I've emailed them (can't get hold of them by phone) and they said they were working on my account but that was 2 weeks ago? Nat

So an update on me I have sent my dmp to Barclaycard who have written back and accepted the payment
my 2 Mbna have been sold to Link who I have sent my nedcab income to offering a payment which I must admit is quite low and waiting to hear back.
Today I get notification that Moorcroft have done a credit search on me what does this mean and I am paying off another debt outside my DMp to clear it can they see how much I’m paying? I’m starting to worry now[0 -

Until the entry drops off your credit file, 6 years from date of default.

I also have the same problem with mbna, I have been on dmp since September 2019, they accept sc payment terms and then after a few months they say as I’m paying contractual payments they will starting adding interest, then when the interest gets added I’m not paying the minimum amount so I get the usual missed payment letters for couple months, then they are to stop the interest and your back to square one for a few months. ( I didn’t look into anything before going on dmp, so I didn’t stop paying creditors and had no missed payments but just struggling to have a life and pay debts) I’m read on this forum about people writing letters requesting defaults so I’m going to give that a try as I also have a Halifax cc who have never defaulted either.1 -

You just have to keep complaining and in writing to the head office. Put COMPLAINT in bold letters at the top and direct the letter to the 'HEAD OF....' Often letters just land on some poor customer services assistant's desk and largely they get ignored. Make your case in the strongest terms and point out that you are not in control of how SC allocate payments and therefore unable to ensure your payments remain below the minimum which would otherwise mean that interest and charges would cease. But more importantly push for that default - complain that you are not being treated fairly, that they are not helping you get out of debt etc. etc.
If all else fails then you need to take control of your DMP and stop making payments until they default your account. Personally, if it were me I'd be doing that now anyway.4
