    Hello again :hello:

Don't worry and don't panic. Sometimes it takes a while to get the desired response as people are working. Your situation is quite complex. I believe you should focus on your other thread as that is where you have discussed your circumstances in detail and your SOA. Help will arrive. Hang in there needtodothis2020 :)
I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

    I love my job

  • Just an update.
I have cancelled all my direct debits to all my creditors
I have spoken to Stepchange and am just waiting for the pack to come through
Once I have it I will then contact all my creditors to explain the situation
Stepchange are aiming for it to begin on the 1st February
Fingers crossed it will all go smoothly
P.S I have just received the rest of my assignments for semester, lets just say it is going to be a very busy few months ahead with all of it plus starting a new job, but I can do this !!!

Hi all, have read a few post and the advice and support here is fab, already feeling more positive about my horrendous situation! I’ve been in contact with Step Change this week and going to get ball rolling with a DAS/DPP (as I’m in scotland). Have printed out their letter to send to my creditors. Do I also send this to bank with my current account and overdraft? My letter says that I’ve recieved advice from SC, I am in financial difficulties and that SC will be in touch. Is that enough? Should I ask for a 30 days ‘breathing space’ for my account or is this automatically assumed? Also can I ask to only be contacted via post/mail? (Will have to hand write extra at bottom as the letter is already typed and printed out- would this be ok?).

Slightly worried about 1 of my loans (it’s with creation) who states : During the currency of this agreement you should not suffer any bankruptcy petition to be presented against you, or execution to be levied against any of your assets, nor shall you enter into any arrangement or composition with your creditors without our express consent.
Also says the balance of the total amount payable shall be immediately due and payable after expiry of proper notice if: you cancel direct debit or fail to pay instalment. Is any of this relevant to me looking into Das/dpp. Am I over thinking things? I’m about to cancel my direct debits so won’t be paying loan payment at end of jan! (But they should have received my letter by then!) Just very worried about people turning up at front door!!! And all the missed payments that will have occurred before the das/dpp is up and running! Also are many das/dpp applications rejected? Am sure I will have so many more questions but thanks so much for reading.

Well done on making such a positive start:T:beer:. After a month or so you'll begin to feel so much more relaxed about your debts. Embarking on a DMP was the best financial decision I ever made:j

You say you are still waiting for your pack from SC and they are aiming for your DMP to begin on Feb 1st. Is that what you want? Advice on here is always to delay the start if possible in order to build up an emergency fund. If you feel you'd like a couple of months of not paying anything to your creditors (as many on here do) then don't be hurried by SC. It's your DMP and although SC facilitate it you are still in control of how you run things.
  • I already have an emergency fund thanks to student finance I had this week, that is enough for me to pay all my household bills and DMP and enough left over until I get my final payment in April. I am also starting a new job which will be a little extra as well, I plan to put this in savings until incase I need it over the next few months.
Thanks for the encouragement, it gives me hop that I can do this
