Give up council apartment to share

Frankly, I think you'd be bonkers to give up your council flat. If you're paying £100 a week for a council flat you must be in an expensive area, so having to find private rental prices would be even harder. Your friend could kick you out at any time, or die, or have to move for any number of reasons. Then you won't just be homeless, you'll be street homeless.

Listen to this poster OP, they are talking sensed

If you give your flat up, you will regret it big time.

    Do not do it.

If it is to save money, I would suggest working more hours. Most adults have to. It is a fact of life that 20 hours isn't going to sustain a great life style

  • You'd have to be bonkers to give up the security of your council flat for this.

Is there a mental or physical health reason that means you can't work more than 20 hours per week?

Possibly just a habit they've fallen into, since it works okay for now?

OP, I'd suggest if you want to work more hours you think about how you'd change your life around to make that easier on you. Things like online shopping, batch cooking, buying more things premade, getting a bus ticket instead of walking. Then if you work the time, you've got a plan for how to spend (some) of the extra money to support that. And you can make whatever plans for the rest :) You can also ease into it - I'd imagine you can do occasional overtime in the call centre, so pick up an extra shift/month, then 1 a fortnight, then 1 a week... until you're working 30-40 hours every week.

I wondered that myself, i admit i do only work 20hrs a week also but i have bipolar and full time led to a full on breakdown and suicide attempt so for the sake of my health (and the fact occ health implemented the limit) i can;t work more hours. I wish i could though. I'd love nothing more than to be normal and work full time :o

At least you recognise it and/or admit to yourself that you have an issue! OP hasn't really said that as of yet, the reason for 20 hours appears to be "burnout".

Equally, you can be no better off working 37.5 hours for £15k especially when the wrong age.

We also know nothing about this person's commute into work or costs and whether it is of any benefit to work more then 20 hours - unlike the grave consensus you can work anywhere on minimum wage. And all doesn't have to be fine and dandy just because they are working full time hours.

How do we know a burnout isn't caused by the 2-3 hours spent travelling each day on top of the working day, to simply reach the work place. Not everyone can live an ideal 10 minute walk away from place of work. Not everyone wants to work 50 hours knowing they achieve £7.50 per hour for the 'high salary that works out on paper' alone!!! If my views now differ from another of OP's threads then that is because actually working in a call centre isn't easy. Never mind when on the lowest wage possible (well nearly as that person in the example of offered 50 hours per week for £7.50 being paid and very recently) there is no happy medium.
  • OP PM me your details about flat and between us we can run a good scheme where you sub let to me and i will sub let to someone and they do the same and thus we employ people and empower them to become rich and fat after living the high life.

Pm me and we can start the scam...err i meant the enrichment of others lives straight away, well i say straight away,i mean in a few months when im out of HM Prison Pentonville.
