Give up council apartment to share

I currently have a council apartment.
I am 30 year old with no kids or girlfriend
I have a part time 20 hr per week job.
I earn £154 p/w
I pay my £100 p/w rent and live off £54
I know somebody who is old with a flat who I asked could of sleep on their floor and they said yes. I would not need to pay any rent.
I could save £100 p/w by giving up my council apartment.
I would sleep on an inflatable mattress on their floor, , although I would be voluntary homeless now in the eyes of the council I could save £600 per month as a part time worker with very little bills.
I don't want to work much than 20 hrs a week which I would need to if I wanted to save more, the reason. Is burn myself out and end up unemployed.
This way I can work less and save more without needing to pay rent.

How long will this floor sleeping arrangement last?
Are you saving for a purpose? How long would you need to save?
£100 pw will not work out to £600 a month savings, more like £400 give or take.
If you are saving for a house deposit or something you need, then it’s your life. If you are not then I think sleeping on a floor and not having your own space is a lot to give up for £100 a week.0 -

If your trying to save to have a place of your own good luck with that. I doubt mortgage lenders will loan you money on such a low incomeMortgage free wannabe

I don't know whether your tenancy is secure or not, if It's secure I wouldn't risk it as you are very lucky to have a council apartment as a single person. My council wouldn't even look at single or couple without kids.0

From our limited knowledge of your posting history:
December 2016 = lost a job
April 2017 = You lost ~£3.5k of payday loan money on "mobile betting sites" and was lying to those companies about your circumstances (how long for? December --> April is a long time even for a gambler...).
July 2018 = You've been working in a call center, 20 hours per week, for an unspecified amount of time. Your circumstances were "work 20hrs p/w and get £100 p/w after rent & bills". You were considering "50 hrs and get maybe £250-300 p/w after rent and bills." but declined it, partly after my number crunching about how well-off you'd be if you did.
September 2018 = You are in the same job (presumably! Can't see you moving to somewhere which pays less on PT hours within 2 months!), but your money after rent and bills is now "£54" - a strange drop of £46 since the last time we saw you.
Thoughts:
1. What the hell is going on with your black hole of a debt? Have you put yourself on a DMP (I doubt you were able to raise the capital to pay the whole debt off a year ago) or have you buried your head in the sand? Could your move query potentially be related to threatening letters being posted through your door from companies who are chasing a debt that you have no intention of paying? Sleeping on a couch "hides" you from debts and avoids the awkward suggestion of you merely working 16ish hours extra per week to offset the £100 you'd save by sleeping on a couch.
2. Have you addressed your gambling problem? In fairness you might not have a gambling problem, but I suspect that you at least have an 'emotional' problem which can manifest through any combination gambling/drugs/alcohol/aggression etc.
3. Do you see this old person potentially clocking off soon? Or even kicking you out (only takes one disagreement for you to be turfed out)? You could end up homeless! That will put a strain on your current job, especially when you start coming in looking like you haven't showered in a week or spent the night in a hostel with drug addicts going off on one etc.
4. Where are your family or friends in this scene? Apologies if you don't have any, but that's an unlikely scenario for a 30 year old. Mind you, it could be the case that you are estranged but even then maybe time to re-build some bridges?0 -

1. Pay day loans, they have uses debt collection companies to try and money back but they arn't doing anything.
I have looked into what could happen as it''s a civil matter, they could maybe issue CCJ's but even these can be written off after say 5-10 years.
As for the loans being taken out, they didn't carry out enough checks fast enough and I had a gambling issue at the time which I never had before. If it ever went to court, I don't think I'd pay them back and take whatever sentence is given.
I has made some voluntary arrangements with a few of the collection companies but I'll take what come.
Not everybody wants a mortgage. I never really used loans apart from payday loans which I.always paid back until then.
I never used loans and never cared about my credit rating.
2. I didn't have a gambling issue until around the time I took the loans.
I don't gamble really at all anymore, the occasional race and lottery. I don't think I had a big problem at the time but was trying to chase bets to get the money back.
I had the payday loans, I used them, I'm over that now and will take anything that comes my way.
CCJ's, dmp's- bullahit.
The banks created loans out of thin air everyday and cause the banks to use reserves, making people pay back extortionate amount meanwhile the government has to pump billions into quantitative easing.
Banks are a big scam, a big lie and people are being robbed by banks who key in loans and take REAL hard cash off people to pay off digits on a scream thay arn't backed up.
3. I still work at the same call centre.

5. I attempted 30 - 50 hrs again and guess what, I being a call centre. I got burnt out and my quality went down and almost became late for work.
6. I'll stick with 20hrs at least I have a job.
7. Staying in somebody's flat would allow me to leave and go somewhere else for work.
Nothing to do with loans, I get no letters or threats.
8. Not everybody wants a mortgage, I like renting.
I don't care about my credit rating because I never really did before or will again want any loans.
9. I never want a mortgage and never will want to own a house. I like renting or staying places and being free to move around. There is better ways for people to make money than with owning property.
10. Property owners own their house, don't pay your council tax for a while and then see what happens.0 -

What happens when the old person gets bored of the arrangement and asks you to move out?0 -
If the flat you are planning to move into has only one bedroom then by moving you in the current tenant will be over occupying.
You don't say whether they are renting privately or in social housing but in either case they are risking their tenancy. In social housing they will be asking you to move out within three weeks. Depending on whether they feel you have exerted undue influence on the tenant they will either evict them or take steps to have you removed.
You will also jeopardise any benefits they are getting. If they are getting housing benefit or council tax reduction the tenant will have to prove your income (with payslips) and they will calculate a 'non-dependent' deduction. If you do not supply proof of your income the council will assume you earn in excess of £500 per week and calculate the deduction accordingly. Even if they are not in receipt of benefits they will lose their single person discount on their council tax which is 25%.
It really isn't in either of your interests for you to give up a tenancy to sleep on someone's floor. If you really must save money then take a look on 'spare rooms.com' or something similar and get a room in shared accommodation.0
