Bots posting inane threads does seem to be acceptable for some reason.
Many years ago (early 70s) I had a rather dashing Ford Prefect. It was battleship grey (all the paints I had, mixed together) with a wide white stripe down the middle. The grill was black & white check & the wide wheels were orange. No bumpers & it was in dire need of some new big ends (again). Two old chaps came to view it late one evening, in the dark they were discussing where it was green or blue. They bought it & I often saw it pottering around town for the next year or so, although I usually heard it first.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -

YES! Just the other day, I stopped the guy and had a chat with him, he was glad as he didn't even know it had folding electric mirrors (he wasn't the 2nd owner (I was the 1st)), It was nice to see they are keeping the car in good condition :cool:0 -
Sadly yes. We had to sell our car a year ago as my husband was medically unfit to drive. He died in January and a few weeks later I was on a bus when I spotted it. Although I wanted to think it was being enjoyed by someone I really didn't want to see it.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Yes, twice but the best example of this was my boss.
He bought his old car back 2 years after he sold it for not much less than he'd originally sold it for.
After a couple of weeks he started having problems with it cutting out and then he remembered he'd sold it because it had problems with the fuel injection system.
Karma, I reckon.0 -
When I was a child my Mum and Dad took me to watch the local 'Banger Racing' and we saw our old Ford Popular '379FEV' painted with bright colours in a banger race - I was really upset at the time as it held many memories for me.0

Couldn't believe my eyes when I was stopped at traffic lights on my way home from work and saw my last car parked in a car park. I looked out for it every day after work and it was always there (not in the same spot though).
Then when I got rid of another car it ended up, after a few weeks, living a few doors down from me when its new family moved in.0 -
I had a 1977 Toyota pickup (in the USA) when I lived there full time, bought in 1979 and sold in 1996. I saw it once in the city where I lived, maybe 2-3 years later. The bed had been replaced with a flatbed, which shocked and disappointed me. It was a great truck and I only sold it because I wanted an extended cab model....0

When I lived in Kabul, Afghanistan in the early seventies I had a Volkswagen van, blue colour but originally yellow when it belonged to the German postal service. It was unusual then in being the first van in history to be fitted with a sliding side door, although this didn't work so well after an Afghan truck dealt my rear a glancing blow so hard that I performed a complete roll, landing back on my wheels.
Another unique feature was the tailpipe of my replaced exhaust, a recycled engine manifold pipe with the flange at the end.
Back in town after an absence of a year or two, one day I spotted what looked like my van parked outside a downtown police station. A quick look at the exhaust pipe confirmed its provenance.
Perhaps I had sold it, I don't remember, but now it was obviously in police custody but looked dusty and unused, so I thought it's my lucky day, I'll go in and claim it back, once again roam the country 'in style'. But of course, the Afghan cops just laughed at me heartily then waved me away.Evolution, not revolution0
