Help identifying Paint/Wallpaper

Hi,
I've moved into a new house and I can't figure out the paintwork it has or is it a wallpaper.

It doesn't look like a wallpaper as it has no joints. Or may be it is painted over a wallpaper?
Not sure if we can paint over it or how to get rid of it where required?
Thanks

You need to have a look around a wallpaper store.

Hi,
aye, just strip it like wallpaper, it's a bit thicker though might just peel off and leave a lining paper, if not use a steamer and scraper but be careful not to gouge into plaster underneath.0 -
Yes it is anaglypta, when I was working in the trade in the early 60's we sold thousands of rolls.
Who every decorated did a great job going by your pictures and the paint has covered the joints well. I would scrape the surface then use a wallpaper steamer to strip it off. You should find that after steaming it will come off in quite large sheets0 -
The only thing to be mindful of is the anaglypta wallpaper may be covering up wobbly/ poor plaster underneath.0

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, will try to strip it and will use steamer if not coming off easily.0

You should check the type of plaster you have on the walls before you start using a steam stripper.
If it's an older property with lath & plaster walls, a steamer can cause the plaster to crack and become detached from the laths, giving you a much bigger problem.0 -
