"depending whichever comes first" didn't know this part TBH. though because is less than 10K still have time. otherwise service is not that expensive and I would do it on time.

You don't value the 5 year warranty then, which could be completely written off by your negligence to read the paperwork before buying.

The lease company will value it, though and charge you for it as it makes the car worth less than it would have been.

Twelve months came first so it should have been serviced six months ago.

I would be concerned that a diesel vehicle has only done 7k miles in 18months - you really should opted for a petrol vehicle for that mileage

Nonsense. As neilmcl has already said, it depends how it's driven.

My diesel is unlikely to exceed 5,000 miles this year, but some of that is blasting along the motorway. I don't expect any DPF problems.

Not sure why because cars for decades have been either mileage or time whichever is reached first. Cars that do low mileage like yours go on an abnormal service schedule because low mileage isn't good for a car.

It's not the mileage, it's how those miles are covered. My current diesel has only done 12k in 2 years dues to a change in circumstances but those miles have been covered in mostly long journeys so I've never had an issues with DPFs etc.

Don't think I said anything about the DPF.

(Maybe the OP will return and clarify the type of driving they do to cover that mileage)

I was meaning purely from a financial point of view.

The premium paid for a diesel car over a petrol car (and on the fuel) even considering the increased (usually) mpg is unlikely to be retrieved covering that mileage over that timescale.
