Phone the CCBC in Northampton - they will tell you. But expect a long time waiting for them to answer the phone (an hour has been reported on a number occasions).

They answered this morning in half a minute so fingers crossed we get a repeat in the morning. I work nights and am normally in bed by 8am

Ask the CCBC to email you a copy of the claim form, that is what you need, as it shows:

    - who issued the claim

    - when they issued the claim

    - the address they used for you

    - the useless excuse under 'particulars of claim'.

    My bet is CEL.

My second guess is MIL collections, on behalf of some other scammer.

Both easy to set aside but you do have to invest £255 up front to get there (that you *should* get back in the end if you follow our method).

I will return once I have gone down this path; thank you so much even if its just for showing me a glimmer of hope

Yes, and the more I think about it the more baffled I am as to how that address was used as nothing in my vehicles history has been used with that address aside from perhaps the credit check to obtain the lease in the first place

    Lease? What lease?

    Either car leased?

Did the leasing company always have your correct up-to-date address?

If the car is leased then you are not the registered keeper, and presumably you never gave the lease firm your new address, or they've got the wrong address down for you in error, and have been passing the wrong address to any PPC who asks!

Anyway, ring the CCBC urgently for a copy of the claim form, then when you can see who the PPC is, do the SAR by email that I described (THIS week/end).

THEN quickly start the urgent ball rolling next week, re the set aside. The court Judge will expect to see evidence that you acted quickly as soon as you were aware of the CCJ. Read some recent set aside £255 threads by searching the forum for those words.

  • I have £255 from my birthday weekend spending money haha

Will call the court at 9am and get the ball rolling asap

Thank you for all your help.

Yes the car is leased and as far as I am aware have never had the old address but I am going to dig out my paperwork and have a look.

Does leasing mean its different to purchasing then?

There has only ever been 1 car, leased to me.

Yes it means the lease firm is probably named on the V5, not you, as you do not own the car. Why not ring your lease firm and ask, and how about asking them for a copy of the letters they sent to any parking firm, about you, since the date the lease started, and to RECTIFY* their data immediately, about your address.

Then send the SAR, by email as soon as the CCBC show you who the scammer is.
