It really IRKS me when

When people say ''Bless you''...especially when it don't fit into anything that is being said
''I am just going shopping''
''ahhhh Bless you''
It really winds me up.. To me it comes across as patronizing and like they have some kind of god complex
I'm currently sitting across from a lady in the office, who says this several times per day
What silly things like that irritate you? Silly sayings etc?

This one annoys me too!
It's rather patronising.
I also hate it when I say something that the other person doesn't quite catch and they say"you what?" Most of the stuff I talk about is not about me but they assume it's I this or I that.....grrrrr.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
Why doesn't it fit into whats being said? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

When someone posts a rant on the 'marriages & relationships' board when there's a 'praise, vent & warnings' board...;)pickledonionspaceraider wrote: »When people say ''Bless you''...especially when it don't fit into anything that is being said

Seriously, I don't recall anyone saying 'bless you' to me under any circumstances.
To say it if you're going shopping seems to be truly bizarre. It simply doesn't make any sense.0 -

They don't think I was saying it, which might fit, they assume I'm saying I. Which annoys me because they think if I say something it must be about me! Like I'm self centred..
Ok, it's just me, and one of those petty things that annoy.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
I don't recall anyone ever saying "bless you" in relation to me, but people often use "bless him/her" in relation to something a child has done. It seems a default response for whenever they:
- Do something cute
- Are ill
- Do something clever
- Do something stupid
- Hurt themselves
Personally I find it a bit cringy but not something I'm going to get too stressed about.0 -

Sorry for the confusion, I was talking to the OP.
I was wondering why it doesn't fit because it certainly seems to fit with one of the dictionary definitions of it even if it doesn't fit into the particular dictionary definition OP has given it.
I was asking the question to determine whether OP is under the impression it only has one meaning/usage.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
