The majority of renters are temporary renters before they buy or are given social housing or inherit wealth. It is a transitional tenure
It is only the very special few who become long term (>10 years) renters and join hpc cults to examine how smart they are for spotting a bubble that is bound to crash this Christmas by 50% to cover their speculative housing shorts
Renting past 30 years old is the new UK sub culture, I would sooner work 24 hours per day in the worst house in the town 100 miles from work to buy my own home rather than rent. Nobody wants to be friends with a renter, they live a suitcase lifestyle where they are never settled.0 -
Here is a fact, 97.567% of renters are just bitter little people who think being funny or trying to be funny in some way makes them right. Anyway I am just waking up to another wonderful day in my beautiful big home overlooking fields and coastline in the distance next to me gorgeous lady, while you put your first foot on the floor knocking over those empty beer cans in that sad old bedsit .
Carry on with the lame wit, how is it working out for you?, just make sure you pay my rent at the end of the month and you can be as "witty" as you like.
Sounds lovely. Which coastline are you on? I love the sea such happy simple memories as a child (although we had holidays in a caravan). Life is so complicated now with so much emphasis on how many bricks you can count.0 -
The max home ownership got to is 69% it's now falling. The market is changing and just because private renting was transitory doesnt mean it is now, I know people renting now who would have been able to buy in the past.
HPC.com now has 1000's of bitter 40 somethings plus who wished they were not sucked into the stupid idea of not buying all those years ago in order to play the market. 100% of them regret the path they took and you just have to meet up with them to see how ill, physically and mentally, they have become0 -

You must be a pretty terrible landlord if that's the kind of tenants you're getting. Lots of people rent temporarily, and are never quite settled (often students who never seem to get on with landlords), but plenty of people rent long term as it suits them. I think you must be attracting the wrong ones, or driving the right ones away.0 -

I rent a bolt hole and we’re much happier than most commuters.
Just paid off my mortgage on the country pile.
I would much rather pay rent than stand up on a 40 degree train for 2 hours a day with people arguing, coughing and having a smelly armpit in my face.
Perhaps you just haven’t met the right type of renters who are very happy with their lifestyle and choices ?0 -

Really? That sounds to me like you haven't ever really experienced anything unless it's dressed up in money. Like it's only wealth that excites you. Maybe you should take up a hobby / get out a bit more rather than just admiring the view.0 -
I don't look at HPC and don't understand why you and others are so obsessed about it. When people makes a post like OP you get a lot of ridiculous post such as yours on one side and Crashy's on the other.
As with any issue there are complete loons on both sides who feed off each other.0 -

My opinion for what it's worth is that if you want a home and intend to stay in it for some time and you can afford it you should buy it, unfortunately fewer people are in a position where they can afford it.
"unfortunately fewer people are in a position where they can afford it."
Yes, they call them losers where I come from, and worse0 -

Buying property is my hobby, and the good eating, holidays, wine and women that come with it, could not get any better thank you0
