    It does look very unlikely you'd get anwhere with a claim. Fair enough possibly as road works are so universal their costs would multiply astronomically. Advance warning would have been better for you and I can understand your frustration.

    I assume you've googled and found this. Possibly if it was one of the utilities undertaking the work rather than the LA you might have more grounds.
